Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OEEIcE.
RUSSEL FRISBIE, OF CROMWELL, CONNECTICUT, ASSIGNOR TO THE J. AND
y E. STEVENS COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
IMPROVEMENT IN TOY MONEY-BOXES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 140,358, dated Jnly l, 1873; application filed March 31, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, RUSSEL FRISBIE, of Cromwell, in the county of Middlesex and State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toy Savin gs- Banks; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, whereby a person skilled in the art can make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings and to the `letters of reference marked thereon.
Like letters in the gures indicate the same parts.
My invention consists in a new arrangement ofthe parts of the bank, and in the manner of securing them together.
Figure 1 is a side view of the bank whenv the parts are together. Fig. 2 represents the same, with the root' detached. Fig. 3 is a cross-section through the middle, showin g the manner of securing the roof, and looking into the interior so as to show the further side.
The building is composed of three pieces, cast of metal in the usual manner, and one screw for holding them together. Each side, and onehalf of the ends and bottom, is cast in one piece, as shown at a and b. At the tops of these sides are the projections c and d, with a latch nick or hook upon their outer Sides as Shown in Fig. 3. These are fonhold-A ing on the root` e. One of the parts, as c, has
a projecting cap-ange, f, to cover the `joint between the parts when the roof is on. In the lower part of the side a is a nut, g, in which the screw h fits when the parts are together. The head of this screw is let into a recess, z', in the side so that the screw may be shorter.
The several parts are put together as follows: The sides are placed together in con- 'tact at the top, and slightly separated at the bottom. The top is then put on over the latches c d, which pass through an aperture of the proper size in the roof. The sides are then brought together at the bottom, which latches and secures the roof. The screw h is then inserted, which holds the parts all firmly and securely together.
What I claim as my invention isl. The latches or hooks c d attached to the sides a b, for the purpose of holdin g on the roof, substantially in the manner herein described.
2. The roof and sides, constructed as described, in three pieces, a b c, and Secured by one screw, substantially as herein specified.
3. The combination of the socket g, the recess i, and the screw h, with the slides a and b, substantially as herein described. n
RUSSEL FRISBIE.
