The xing means are situated mainly above the core` as shown in Figs. l to 9, in such a manner as to oppose a vertical or oblique rising ofthe core at the moment oit casting. Moreover, when the core is oit fairly considerable length, it is necessary to support it underneath in order to prevent it from giving away under its ovvn weight, and in this case one or more i'ixing means are placed at e, as shown in Fig. 8.

Since the lixinameans is placed alongtho line et the joint ot the mold. and docs not pass either through the sand of the mold nor through the core. the ramming ol: the sand can be performed more easily than when ordinarv core-supports are employed embedded iu the sand oil the mold. Conscquently. the improved lixing means allows opt employing molding processes and mechanical rannning procel-sses Vwhich cannot he employed with the ordinary core-summits.

A means 'for fixing foundry tores in casting-molds comprising' a relatively narrow member, having fiat portions adapted to be inserted between tbe mold parts, means on said flat portion adapted to be anchored in the mold, and an intermediate portion adapted to engage a core and main tain tbe same duly positioned with respect to 'tbe mold.

A means for fixing foundry cores in casting-molds, a relatively narrow member having a iiat portion adapted to be inserted between the several mold parts and extend across the same, and an intermediate portion conformed to and engaging tbe core and serving to maintain the same duly positioned with respect to the mold.
il. .A means [or fixing; foundry cores in casting-molds, a relatively narrow member having a flat portion adapted to be inserted between the several mold parts and extend across the same, and an angular intermediate portion engaging tbe core and serving to maintain the same duly positioned with respect to tbe mold.
12. A means for fixing foundry cores in casting-molds comprising a support composed of a plurality of parallel longitudinal members, and bearing members secured to said longitudinal members, said bearing members being adapted to bear against the surfaces of said mold parts.
13. A means for fixing foundry cores in casting molds consisting of a metal strip adapted to be inserted between the mold parts and to bear against the cores, and anchoring means at tbe ends oi said strip adapted to be embedded in tbe sand of one of said mold parts.
