To provide `for supporting the lamp about the ear in order that the light may be pro jected upon the various parts upon which it is desired to operate, a bracket is employed. The bracket consists ot a piece of resilient Wire bent intermediate ot' its ends as at 4l), to provide two parallel arms 4l. Each ot' these parallel arnisti is provided with afsubstantially right-angularly dispose-d curved portion 42, and these eurved portions 42 are adapted to embrace the iainpfhousing 5 be- .hind the pins 16, as more clearly shown in Fig. 3. The arms 41 are angularl)v disposed with respect to each other, and slidable thereover in such a manner as to contract said arms 41, is a collar 42', which through its movement expands or contracts the diameter of the tivo curved arms 4l and causes them to either grip or release the lanip housing 5.

After forming the two curved portions the strands of wire are twisted and rigidly secured together as at 45, throughout a poi'- tion of .their length, and said strands are then separated as at 4G, and terminate in angularly disposed arins 47, each of which is provided with a cur\'cd extremity 48. This curved| extreniityii ma)v be suitably covered with a tubular rubber body or an)7 other means to prevent its scratching'- or marringthe part with which it is engaged to support the lamp.

As shown in Fig. 3. when the lamp housing is positioned within the curved portions 42, the base ot' the twisted portion 45 is adapted to he received within the space 3l between the right-angular projections 3() ot' lthe lug 29. By this construction,v it will be' seen that the lamp may be supported at any convenient position in order to proiect Aa light through the clear glass l?) when it 'is desired to work on anyY portion ofthe car.

It will be further noted that the present invention provides a lamp which may he used both as a signal to indicate the eoiitenrplated movement on the part of the driver of a car, and a troublel light when it is necessary to repair or work upon the car.

Claims: l. A signal lamp comprising a housin having oppositely disposed open walls, a colored glass secured in one of said open walls, a plain glass mounted in the other of said open walls and oppositely disposed with respect to said colored glass, said housing' havin,' r a portion soforrned as to tit upon the operators hand, said portion being adjacent one ot' said, open walls so that with the lamp in position upon the operatoins hand one ot' said glasses is obscured, and securing means tor securing said housing' upon the.'
