Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Jan. 111 ill/22.
Application filed July 2, 1920. Serial No. 393,691.
To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that we, LEONARD S. MILLER, Gnonen SnNsAeAUGH, and lViLLIAM D. SHELBY, citizens of the Uniter States of America, and residents of Cincinnati, Dayton, and Columbus, respectively, in the counties of Hamilton, Montgomery, and Franklin, respectively, and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Pole Raising and Straightening Devices, of which the following is a specification.
An object of our invention is to provide a device that may be used to raise and straighten telephone poles, telegraph poles, and poles used for other and similar purposes.
Another object is to decrease the load upon the men who raise such poles, and to reduce The shoulders 6 formed on the plate B adjoin the lug 72 and limit the extent to which the collar (l on the support D projects over the lug b. i
The pole support D is circular and has a series oi teeth (Z upon its inner surface, said teeth being adapted to grip a pole F. A shank d is formed on the support, and has attached to it the collar 6Z2 by means of the bolt a extending through such collar and shank. The collar d is adapted to be mounted upon the lug b on the plate B, whereby the support D may be held in alignment with the jack bar A.
A series of links E comprising hollow metallic tubes e having a bore 6 substantially equal to the bore (Z of the collar (P. A pin 6 is mounted in the bore 6' and extends from one end of the link E. The pin 3. The combination With a jack bar, of a plate, bolts securing the plate to the jack bar, a lug on the plate extending beyond and in alignment With the jackbar, a pole support, and a collar on the support adapted to engagethe lug on the plate and to secure the support 111 alignment with the jack bar. 4;. The combination With a jack bar, of a I plate, a lug upon the plate, means to secure the plate to the jack bar, a pole support adapted to be mounted upon the lug, and a series of links adapted to be interposed between the lug and the pole support.
5. The combination with a jack, of a lug -mounted on the jack, and a pole support adapted to be mounted on the lug.
6. The combination with a jack, ofa lug mounted on the j ack, a pole support adapted to be mounted on the lug, and links adapted to be interposed between the lug and the pole support. r
In witness whereof, We have hereunto subscribed our names this 29th day of June,
LEONARD S. MILLER. GEORGE SENSABAUGH. WILLIAM D. SHELBY, i
