Be it known that v we, (1) lVLADYsLAw Gom and (2lb/helmen J. Gnooowsnr, citizens of Poland, residing at Thorndike, in the county of Hampden and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and uscful Improvements in Oiling Bevices, of which the following is a specification.
rlhe primary object of the invention is the provision of an oiling device or lubricating systems serviceable in connection with a plurality of bearings and being in the nature of a readily controlled gravity feed system or" lubrication and readily employed in connection with a spinning machine for lubricating the spindles thereof.
i further object of the invention is the provision Yoit an oiling device especially adapted for spinning machines whereby the plurality of spindles are uniformly lubricated, the lubrication being readily controlled manually for varying the degree of feed as well as interrupting the same to any one of the spindles when found desirable.
With these general objects in view, the invention consists of the novel combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described in connection with the aocompanying drawings and then claimed. f

Referring more in detail to the drawings, our invention broadly provides an oil or lubricant receiver 10 emptying into a hopper lltlierebeneath, the said hopper being p in Vcommunication with a main oil line 12 adapted for lubricatino-A the spindles 13 of the spinning machine. tub pipes 14 formed of flexible material, preferably lead or copper, lead from the base or journal 15 to the spindles 18, a connection 16 having a valve 17 being provided between each journal 15 and its feed tube 14.
The oil reservoir 10 receives the lubricant andl has a closure cap 18 for the outlet opening 19 in the bottom of the reservoir, said cap being secured forV operation to a wire 2O frictionally secured in guides 21 upon the container` 10 and operable by a handle 22 at the top thereof. A glass 23 in the side of the container 11 shows the elevation of the oilrat a glance while the cap 18 is readily manipulated to open and close the outlet 19 by means of the handle 22.
A pipe 24 receives the discharge lubricant from the cup or hopper 1l and is connected to the oil line 12 whereby as will be evident, the oil from the cup 11 runs by gravity into the line pipe 12.
A sleeve 25 is provided for each stub pipe or feed tube 14, said sleeves having telescoping ends 26 and being journaled upon the line pipe 12 as best illustrated in Figure -4 of the drawings. Outlet openings 27 spaced apart in the upper side of the line 12 are adapted to supply lubricant therethrough to the stubtubes 14 by means ofperforations 28 in the sleeves 25, the lower ends of the tubes-14 being adapted for detachable connection with the perforations 28 after the manner of a plugging operation.
The complete operation of the invention will be apparent from this detail description thereof, the oil feedingby gravity from the cup 11 through the line 12 causes the oil to rise in the tubes 14 and into the journals 15 of the spindles 13 thereby lubricating the spindles. When it is desired to disconnectv any spindle from the lubricating means, the stub tube 14 is pulled out of the plugging opening 28 of the adjacent sleeve 25 and said sleeve revolved upon the line 12 to a point out of alinement with the adjacent oil outlet 27. In this manner, the valve 17 being closed'in the desired tube 14, the tube isl disconnected and its sleeve 25 turned for shutting olf the supply of oil. rl`he sleeves 25 are capable of slight longitudinal shifting upon the line 12 and are readily secured against rotation by jam nuts 29 adjacent the opposite ends of the line 12 adapted for bearing against the adjacent sleeve'25 for forcing the sleeves together.
rThe hinged lid 30 is provided uponv the reservoir 10 and it will be understood that the flexibility of the tubes 14 permit the tubes to be unplugged from the perforations 28 Without interfering with the coupling-16y and that the valves 17 are closed when disconnecting the tubes 14- from the sleeves 25 for preventing the back loW of any lubricant in the journals 15 through the valve tube of the spindle. While the form of the invention herein set forth is believed. preferable, it Will be understood that minor changes may be made therein Without departing from zthe spirit and scope of our invention.
What We claim as new is A l. A spindle lubricator comprising a reservoir, a line pipe leading therefrom havin perforations, sleeves slidable and rotatable on said pipe having openings therein movable into registration with the perforations of the pipe line, said sleeves having interitting ends forming fluid tight joints, means for drawing said sleeves together yt0 tighten the joints between the ends, and flexible connectingrpipes for the spindles adapted for removable insertion Within the openings of the sleeves.
2. A spindle lubricator comprising a reservoir, .aline pipe leading therefrom having perforations, sleeves slidably and rotatably mountedI on the'line pipe having openings movable into registration With the perforations, means for flapping the sleeves together to provide fluid tight joints between the meeting ends thereof and adapted for shifting the sleeves longitudinally of the line pipe, and flexible connecting-pipes for the spindles adapted for removable insertion in said openings.
