To all whom it may concern: Be it known that I, PALMER J. JoNEs, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Port lVashington, New York,

have invented new and useful Desk and Seat Constructions, of which, the following is a spec fication.

In its preferred form, a post or standard is provided with a suitable base, side flanges for supporting the'seat and desk andone or more webs for re-enforcing the standard and affording means for positioning the seat.

The standard andv its base may conveniently be formed of cast iron or steel and is provided with a base 6, which is rectangular in outline so as to provide a maximum support, and it may be cut away at the The body-7 of the standard supports the seat 8 and the desk 9. To support the standard, I prefer to provide a plurality ofclamps such as 23, each having a foot portion adapted to be secured to the floor by a screw or'bolt 24, and

another portion to overlap the edge of the base. This will permit the base tobe secured to the floor: at any position irrespective of knots or cracks in the floor which make it very difficult to attach the ordinary base i to the floor by screws which pass through-definitely located holes in the base.

'By inclining the standard slightly to the I rear I find that a better distribution of the weight on the seat is provided.

I claim 1. ,A seatconstr'uction, comprising a base,

a single post rising centrally therefrom and having laterally projecting flanges and a Web between said flanges and connecting the base with said flanges, a seat support embracing said web and said flanges, and means for adjustably clamping said support against said flanges' and said web.

A combined seat and desk construction, comprising abase, a sin'glestandard rising centrally therefrom and having laterally projecting flanges and a connecting web, along the front side thereof and between said flanges, a desk secured to said flanges, a seat support comprising a clamp embracing the edges of said flanges and adjustably 'mou nted on said standard, the flanged portion of said standardbeingcut away at one point suflicient to permit said seat support to be removedwithou't disturbing said desk, said seat supporthaving portions embracing said web and other portions engaging saidfianges, and means for clamping, sa d.

Ina combined seat and desk construction, a rearwardly inclined standard having substantial lateral flanges, a base united thereto, a substantial web-connecting the front of said base with the front of said standard and extending approximately to theupper end'thereof, a Web connecting the rear of said standard with the rearof said base, a desk secured to the upper end of said standard and adjustable angulariy at approximately the same inclination as said standard, and a seat secured to the side flanges and the front Web ofsaid standard and adjustable with relation thereto independently of said desk.
