My present invention relates generally to window stripping, and more particularly to stripping which though especially applicable to the sides of slid ng sashes, may be utilizedin connection with swinging sashes, doors and the like, as for instance at the top and latch sides thereof, and is simple in construction, effective in use and easily applied and maintained in proper position.
In the accompanying drawing which illustrates my present invention and forms a part of this specification,

eferring now to these figures, I have shown in Fig. 1 a conventional window frame including a jamb 10 in which a parting strip 11 is as usual partly set and located between an outer blind stop 12 and an inner sash stop 13, the jamb 10 being for the purposes of m invention provided with grooves 14 an 15 respectively along the inner edges of the blind stop 12 and the parting strip 11 for a purpose which Wlll be presently described.

and against the inner face of the jamb 10 and within each of these spaces the weather strip proposed by my invention is seated and connected to the 'amb.
As shown in Figs. 2 and 3 the weather strip comprises a transversely curved body 18, or at least a body which is transversely curved for a portion of its width, the body 18 in Fig. 2 being shown with substantially fiat side portions 19, one of which has a conof which the following.
form the sash engaging ton thereto and doubled to form a ton adapted to enter one of the jamb slots 14, 15. One side of this doubled portion forming tongue 20 is extended beyond the relatively opposite side of the body 18 and is bent and, doubled to form a second tongue 21 at right angles to the tongue 20 and in parallel spaced relation to the body, so as to enter a slot 22 formedfin the outer face of each of the sashes 16 and 17.
In addition to supporting the tongues 20 and 21, the extension at one side of the body 18, standing at approximately right an les thereto, forms an abutting member whlch, placed adjacent to the inner sash 17, engages the adjacent face'of the parting strip 11, and when placed adjacent to the outersash 16 engages the adjacent face of the blind stop 12.
In order that the body 18 may still be free to flex in a direction at right angles to its plane, in spite of the abutment of its angular portion against -a ri 'd portion of the win dow casing as just a ove described, the relatively opposite side of the body 18 is preferably provided with transverselyelongated slots 23, one of which is shown in Fig. 3, to receive fastenin members 24 in such a wa that the bod .w ile held to the j amb by fastening mem ers 24 is still permitted slight play in respect to the fastening members.
It will be noted from a careful ins ection of Fig. 2 that the tongue 20 projecting beyond one face of the body 18 is short as compared to the angular extension carrying the tongue 21, and it becomes obvious therefore that by first bending the metal to form the tongue 20 and then extending one side of this tongue to carry the tongue 21, I save a portion of metal as compared to the construction' shown in Fig. 4 wherein the body 18 is bent angularly 1n the first instance to gue 21" and then continued in the opposite direction to form the jamb entering tongue 20.
For the above reasons, and while my invention is capable of modification in its specific construction along the last described, and possibly other lines, the first construction disclosed is at the present time to be preferred in view of the strict economy in metal.

is also obvious that in case of shrinking of the sash away from the jamb, the sash en gaged edge of the weather strip will follow the sash and will be maintained in effective relation between the parts at all times. It
' is further obvious'that by the extension of the tongue of the weather strip slidably into the groove of the sash, my improved weather strip will operate effectively in connection not only those. which are straight but also those which have warped.
I claim: 7
1. The combination with a window jamb and. sash, of a metal weather stripping consisting of a body portion having a hump enwithjamb connecting means atone side of the hump, and means at the opposite free side of the hump having sliding engagement with y sash and provided I one face of the sash whereby to shift the body'portion with the sash when the latter ing a doubled laterally extending rib at right angles to its opposite side projecting beyond one face of the body, one wall of'said rib having an extension projecting at right angles to the body and beyond its'opposite face for a distance'greater than the width of the said rib, .said extension having av tongue project-ing parallel to the body portion and in spaced relationv to'the said body portion as described. v Y
