EAVES-TROUGH.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 29, 1921.
Application iled September 27, 1920. Serial No. 412,927.
To all whom i may concern:
Be it known that I, TURNER BYBD, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lansing, in the county of Ingham and State of Michigan, have invented a new and useful Raves-Trough, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a method of repairing eaves troughs or the like, and it is the object of the invention` to provide a method or" repair for restoring leaking eaves troughs, thereby obviating the necessity of replacing the eaves troughs.
The method also includes positioning lining strips in the trough to be repaired, together with means for securing the same in such position against displacement.
lVith the foregoing and oatrher objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment ofk the invention herein disclosed, may be made within thescope of what is claimed, witha out departing from the spirit of the invention.
Referring to the drawing Figure l illustrates a plan view of a trough showing the same as having been repaired, in accordance with the present invention.
F ig. 2 illustrates a sectional view taken on line QMQ of Fig. l.
Fig. 3 illustrates a sectional view taken on line 3-8 of Fig. l.
Referring to the drawing in detail, the reference character 5 designates a conventional form of eaves trough to be repaired, the eaves trough being provided with the usual discharge opening to permit water toy flow into the down spout 6, which has.
the
troughs, one extremity of the wire being formed into a hook indicated at l0 to accommodate the eye 1l, formed at the opposite extremity of the eye, there being providedr a central hanging arm l2 also formed integral with the length of wire, whereby the trough may be supported under the eaves of a building.
As shown by the drawing, the securing members are positioned on the eaves trough at points adjacent to the overlapping ends of the section 7, so that the main or bodyl portions of the securing members will contact with the upper edges of the member 7 to retain the same in the trough.
To insure against water entering between the members 7 and the trough, a waterproofing material is applied to both surfaces of the member 7, whereupon the same are positioned in the trough and securedby means of the securing members 9.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is In an eaves trough, strips of waterproofed material positioned within ,the trough, said strips having their adjacent ends overlapping, a securing member including a length of wire positioned around the trough adjacent to the overlapped ends of the strips, the length of wire having a hook member formed at one end and having an eye formed intermediate its ends, said eye adapted to accommodate the hook member, and a hanging arm forming a part of the securing member.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own, I have hereto aflixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
. TURNER BYRD.
