Application filed '1 0 auto/10771 2 27 may 0092 oer-n Be it known that I, VILLIE Min-in, a citi- Zen of the United States, residing at Wins ton, in the county of Douglas and State of Georgia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in CompressedAir Pumps; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to compressed air pumps for operating an air compressor, so that the air may be readily and quick y stored in any desired tank so that it will be ready for use when needed.
A still further objectof the invention is to provide an improved device of the above character which is durable and eflicient in use, one that is simple and easy to manufacture, and one that can be placed upon the market at a reasonable cost.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel construction, arrangement and formation of parts, as will be hereinafter more specifically described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof, in which:

Referring in detail to the drawings, air is forced under pressure to the tank 10, by an air compressor 15, which is mounted upon a frame 16, arranged to one side of the body of water. The air compressor is connected to the pipe 7 by means of the pipe 17 secured to the lower end of the compressor. The pipe 17 is connected to the pipe 7 by means of the ordinary T 18. The pipe 7 is for dispensing air from tank 10. A suitable oneway check valve 19 is arranged in the pipe 17 to prevent the air from flowing back into the compressor.
The frame 16 includes the upright standards 20 connected by the longitudinally extending bars 21 and the transverse bars 22. These bars are braced by angle members 23 connected to the standards 20.
The air compressor 15 is securely bolted in Specification of Letters Patent.

position by means of brackets 23 to certain of the longitudinally extending bars 21. The air compressor lncludes a cylinder 24: having an air inlet 25 formed in the lower end thereof in which is mounted a suitable inlet valve 26. A piston 27 is mounted for reciprocatory movement in the cylinder and has secured thereto the piston rod 28, which extends outwardly through the upper end of the cylinder, as clearly shown in the drawings. One of the longitudinally extending bars 21 has secured thereto a pair of spaced bearings 29 and 30 which rotatably receive the shafts 31 and 32. The shaft 31 has loosely mounted thereon the hand wheel 31' which engages the pinion 32' and slidably supports the crank 33, which is held in its adjusted position by means of a set screw 34. The crank 33 has a suitable handle 35 secured thereto, whereby the same may be readily rotated. By providing the crank adjustable in the wheel, a greater or less leverage can be obtained, as may be desired. The shaft 32 has keyed thereto the balance wheel 36 and carries the gear wheel 37 which meshes with a cooperating gear wheel 38 keyed to the shaft 31. Certain longitudinal bars 21 have secured thereto as at 39 the rods 10, which have slidably mounted thereon the cross head d1 provided with the longitudinally extending slot 42, which slidably receives the wrist pin 43 formed on the wheel 4A, which is keyed to the shaft 32. A portion of the wheel -14 is formed solid, as at 44, adjacent to the wrist pin 43 so that the weight thereof will normall tend to throw the cross head downward uring the operation thereof. The cross head 4:1 has secured thereto the piston rod 28 and the same extends through the cross head and is secured against relative movement by means of nuts 15 hearing against the upper and lower surface thereof. Thus, upon operation of the hand wheel, the piston will be reciprocated in the compressor and effectively store the air in the storage tank 10.
In practice, I have found that the form of my invention illustrated in the accompanying drawings and referred to in the above description, as the preferred embodiment, is the most efiicient and practical; yet realizing the conditions concurrent with the adoption of my device will necessarily vary, I. desire to emphasize that various minor changes in details of construction, proportion and arrangement of parts may be resorted to, when required without sacrificing any of the advantages of my invention as set forth.

A pump operating means comprising vertical uprights, side members connecting said uprights, longitudinally extending bars secured to'the uprights and the side members and some of said bars arranged in'a plane with each other and the other bars arranged one above the other, the lowermost bars adapted to support a reciprocating pump, vertical guide rods connecting some of sa1d bars above the pump, a cross head slidable on said rods and connected to the 15 pump, and a rotatable means carried by some of said bars and adapted to impart a reciprocatory movement to the cross head.
