IMPROVEMENT IN TOYS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 139,783., dated J une 10, 1873; application filed November 29, 1872.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MICHAEL GREBNER, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Turntable Toy; and I do hereby declare the following to be a ull, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable, those skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming part of this specification, in which drawlug- Figure 1 represents a vertical central section of this invention. Fig. 2 is an inverted plan of the same.

This invention has for its object to improve upon and render less complicated the turntable toys now in use; and it consists in providing the travelingplatform on its top surface with carriers for engaging with and holding toys, and its bottom surface with a rack into which a gear-wheel meshes for the purpose of propelling said platform; it, the platiorm, being arranged and supported in a guideway formed in the rigid platform in the center of which is formed a socket for receiving a Christmas-tree, as hereinafter specified.
In the drawing, the letter A designates a platform which is supported by a frame B, and in which is formed a circular guide-way a, to receive a ring, I). On the bottom surface of this ring is formed a toothed rack, 0, into which gears a pinion, d, mounted on a shaft, 6, that has its bearings in the frame B. On said shaft is secured a handle, f, so that by turning this-handle the ring b is caused to travel round in its guideway. From the surface of the traveling-ring project carriers g, which are intended to catch in sockets it formed at the bottom parts of toys, such as toy locomotives, toy cars, toy animals, or soldiers, or of toys of any desired description.
If the toys are secured on the carriers, and a revolving motion is imparted to the ring b, the toys are caused to travel round the center of the platform A. In the center, of said platform is secured a socket, G, for the reception I do not claim, broadly, a turn-table toy provided with a guide-way and aring, when the latter is propelled by an arm connected with the same and made to impart motion to the I ring by bevel-wheels arranged in the center of the stationary platform, for such is not my invention but a What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The stationary platform A provided with the socket U to receive a Christmas-tree, and e V with the guide-way a to receive the travelingring I), carrying carriers g and the rack 0, into which meshes the spur-wheel d driven by the shaft e, the whole constructed and arranged as herein shown and set forth.
This specification signed by me this 22d day of November, 1872. y a p M. GREBNER.
