This invention has for its object to improve the construction of a lamp-bracket by a simpler form of connection between the ring part of the bracket, into which the lamp is set, and the main body of the bracket or arm of the same. Such connection was heretofore made in the form of an upright dovetail, or otherwise, so that during transportation the parts would have to remain connected, thus occupying considerable superfluous space, because the ring portion is at right angles horizontally to the arm portion of the bracket, making close packing diflicult or impossible. My invention consists in forming on the ring a projecting ear, with double steps, and a similar projecting ear on the arm, so that when the two cars are placed together, with their steps overlapping each other, a pin may be placed through the two cars to firmly lock the parts of the bracket together.
i This connection is superior to that heretoalso because it allows the bracket to be trans ported while apart, thering being laid over against the arm during transportation.
In the accompanying drawing, the letter A represents the arm portion of the bracket, and i B the ring portion of the same. On. the arm Ais formed a projecting ear, G, which has two steps, a b, side by side, but the step a is considerably forward of the step b. A similar ear, D, is formed on the ring B, and has steps d 0 side by side, but the one, e, forward of the other, d, so that when the two cars are placed side by side the step b will enter beneath the step ,d, and a under 0. The two ears 0 D are also perforated, so that when they are placed together, to make their steps overlap, a pin can be put through them-by preference, a screw or bolt to lock them. together.
When the parts of the bracket are thus connected they will not be able to swing on each other, as the pin which connects them passes GEORGE JONES.
