fm n( to provide a pas 'supports AA, in any suitable e; e new La@ releerlas.
To elfi ii/tom it" fm concer-e Ee it .known that l, JUL-ius Simona, e cit-issn of the lllnited States, residing in New York, in the county of the Bronx and State of l-l'ew York, have invented certain new and useful linprovenients in Fan-Racks, of
which the following is ey specieation. C
rlhis invention relates to racks tor utensils and articles of the kitchen and household hind which are of frequent end deilv use,V
but are difficult to store or dispose of when not in use, and an object of the invention 1s simple, convenient and inexpensive ineens for the disposal or' such utensils and articles `when not in use. A further ohject is to provide e raclr of this character which may he placed in a standing position, or may be attached to thepivall ci' the kitchen, or to the door or side oii'a closet, preferably in a position neer the kit-chen range. A further object is to provide a rech or" this clmrecter :tor the limited kitchen space of apartment houses, dining cors or vessels.
Referring to the drewings y"harming part of this specifico-tion;
Figure l is a front elevation, partly in perspective, of the rack showing various kitchen utensils or er+ieles disposed thereon.
2 is e fragmentary sectional view showing' e ineens for attaching a transverse Slat of the the raolr.
Similar characters refer to similar parts throughout the several views.
The ra-elt which may he of Wood or suitable instel, comprises nprights or supports i s, provided. the loiver ends with feet B l?, Whioh feet when the raolr ifs intended to stand upon the door should be of sufficient area to maintain the rack steadyin a stand ing position, or the reet B i3, may be srranged for attsclnnentto the door by screws l0, or other suitable means.
The upper ends of the uprights or snpports A A, are provided WitL means, such es the screws ll, for attaching the rack to the kitchen Wall or other vertical surface.
The uprights or supports A A., ere oonneoted by transverse slats C C, comprising a face portion D and a rear portion'l E, the respective ends of the iace portions C C, being separahly secured to the uprights or manner, suoli 12, which engage in holes or supports, Fig. 2.
es the doivel pins 13, in the uprights Specification o Letters Patent.

vby suitable means,
rack to en upright or support of- .rights or supports and engaging pot-lids,
Patented @et 25, lt. serial ne. stoen.
Therenr portionsv E E, oi he transverse slats C C, are shorter than the .face portions D D, and are provided with ends le, estending; forwardly [substantially et right angles to the rear portions, such ends being; seeured to the rear side of the face portions not shown, to space the face and rear portions apart and to provide a longitudinal space l5, between the fao-e portions D D and the rear portions E E, of `the slats, for the purpose later set forth, the
`rear portions E E thus beingn supported by the face portions D D.
The fase portions D i3, are provided n the forward side thereof with means, such as the hooks 1, for suspending the utensils or articles thereby.
A flat horizontal surface, or shelfesurface, such as the shelf F, is arranged near the bottom of the rack, or in other suitable position and is separably secured et its ends b `suitable Ineensl not shown, but preferably by dowel-pins such es l2 engaging holes such as 13 in the uprights or supports A A.
By thus separably connecting;r or securing togther the uprights or supports A A, transverse slats C C and the shelf surface such as i provide a knoolodown rack, or rack comprised of separable parts which are held in normal but separable operative relation hy engagement of the parts, and which rack when in knocked-down form is capable of being readily. carried or conveniently; stored, and when desirable can be easily set up or arranged in operative relation of the parts.
A 'sature of my rack is that the parts when seperebly secured. in normal operative relation may be so held and prevented from being separated by the attachment of the uprights or supports A A by means, such as the screws l0, engaging the lower ends of the upf s horizonthe floor of a, building, and by means, such as the screws 11, engaging the upper ends of the uprights or sup-- ports and engaging e vertical surface, such as a side welll, the part-s comprising the rack, thus being held inseparable in their relation to each other.
ln', use, utensils or articles suc-h as the dishpan and fryingpen shown, are hung by their handles to the hooks 16, milk-cans, pots, hettles and the like havin` a large base surface being placed on the s elf F, Whilepans, and similar sliin or/ thin or articles which are not readily tal surface, such as utensils Sil suspendibler but which are receivable in the interspeoes 15 are placed therein, in the ease of e pot-lill fi, such as shown, the button or handle g thereof restingj upon or engaging; the upper edge of o ieee portion D., While the lower portion of the pot-lid which is received in theinterspace' 15, engages et en angle the front 'fune of the rear portion E of the transverse slet/C, to retain the pol;- lid. in the ioterspeoe l5', utensils or articles of this slin'i Ior thin kind Whiohare of dif- `ierent diametri@ sise being 'thus reeeiveble in the interspa'ee l5 and in lapping relation, if necesst/try.
From the foregoing description itfis 0b- "vious that the raolr moy be provided with more than two transverse slats, suoli` as C 0,'
and more then one shelf-surface, such sslthe shelf l and l do not restrict myself to the number or transverse lslats or the single-suraee shown," .y Y
l Having' *thus described my invention, ll: oleiin: i i
` 1. A reel; comprising e pair of uprights, and e plurality or1 transverse slats 'for speeing; the upriglits eport; eaoh transverse slet i consisting of e face Aportionend a rear por tion, the ends of the farce portion. being separably secured to the' inner Sides of the uprights; the rear portion of each slet having forwardly projecting ends located be*b tweentlio uprights and bearing against snol l secured 'to the rear surface of the face portion orproviding space between the rear surface othe'fece portion and the front surface of 'the rear portion. for supporting non-suspendible utensils therein.
` 2. A rook comprising a pair of upriglits; ande plurality of transverse slats for spaeing' the uprights eport; each transverse slet eonsisting'of e. face portion and e rear portion, the ends oi the ieee portion beingI 'separebly secured to the inner sides or the utensils therein.
