To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LE RoY ARMITAGE, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at East Orange, New Jersey, have invented a new and useful Electric-Lamp Fixture, of which the following is a specification. 4
My invention relates particularly to an adjustable fixture for incandescent lamps.
The main object is to provide a simpleand inexpensive construction which is light and compact and can be readily adjusted to many positions, so that it is convenient for'use.
In the preferred form the invention contemplates the use of a main rod or tube with a special adjustable clamp on one end and an ad ustable lamp socket bracket on the other end.

The main post or standard 5 is preferably cylindrical and tubular, and affords a conduit for the lamp cord 6.
The clamp for supporting the device from a book, table or other support has two arms or jaws 7 and 8. The first may be rigidly secured to one end of the post 5, although it may be resilient. The other arm 8 preferably has an opening only slightly larger than the outer diameter of the post 5, and is preferably bent into the form shown in Fig. 1, to facilitate attachment to a Slllttlblp support. This jaw 8 is also preferably a resilient or spring jaw and has connected to it a spring jaw 9, which has an opening for the post 5. This jaw 9 is connected to the jaw 8 by a U-shaped portion 10, and the Specification of Letters Patent.

grasping the parts 9 and 8 between the thumb and forefinger. It should also be understood that the jaw 8 may be released from the support by simply swinging the jaw around the post 5.
To prevent scratching and efl'ect a substan. tial connection of the 'device with itssupport, I prefer to cover the jaws 7 and 8 with elt, as at 12.
The bulb 14 may be ofany suitable type, carried by any suitable form of socket 15, such as .a key or keyless on push-button socket. Preferably a reflector 16 is provlded, and this reflector may be either in the form of a silvered coating'attached to the bulb, as shown in Fig. 1, or in the form of a separate reflector 16', as shown in Fig. 4.
A clamp 17 has jaws which frictionally engage the post 5, so that the clamp may be slid along t epost or rotated about it. This clamp 17 is connected tothe socket 15, for instance, by means of a member 18. This member 18 may be pivoted or riveted at 19' Patented @ct. 25, 11.921.

It will be seen that the post 5 constitutes a handle by which the entire device may be held and adjusted. By making this post hollow or tubular it may also be utilized as a guard vfor the cable or lamp cord, so as to keep it out of the way of the parts of the,
clamps, but without interfering with the various adjustments of the device.
It will also be seen that the direction of projection of the light rays may be altered as desired, in view of the fact that the reflector is adjusted about the axis of the socket, and that the socket is adjustable up and down the post, as well as around'the axis of the post. The construction thus afiords in compact space a substantial universal adjustment.
I claim: 1. An electric lamp fixture comprising a roe post, a jaw fixed to said post, a second )1? having a spring arm portion, said second jaw and its spring arm portion having openings slidably receiving said post, and a lamp socket adjustably carried by said post.
2. An electric lamp fixture comprising a post, and a supporting clamp having a pair of jaws, one of said jaws having a part embracing said post and having a resilientl pressed portion embracing said post for gripping the latter and holding said lastmentioned jaw in position on said post.
3. An electric lamp fixture comprising a post, a supporting clamp having two jaws one'of which is fixed to. the post and the other of which is slidably mounted on said post, said slidable jaw having a spring jaw of substantially U-shape and having a part embracing said post, said spring jaw when released serving to grip the post and hold said slidable jaw in position on the post, and means for adjustably supporting a lamp on said post.
