useful Gin-Gleaner;and I dohereby declare description of the invention, such as will enable othersskilled in the art to which it appertains to make andu se the same.
he invention relates togincleaners and has for its object to provide a device of this character comprisin a bar extending through the gin and'isposed below the gin saws and provided with curved fingers which extend upwardlyand aredisposed between.
the gin ribs, said bar having its ends provided with rectangular sha ed portions slldably mounted in segmental y shaped slots in the sides of the gin frame for guiding said bar and preventing the same from rotatlng during its upwardmovement.
A further object is to provide the ends of the cleaner bar with a reduced cylindrical portion adapted to be received by bifurcated ends of rockable levers pivoted to the sides of the gin frame, the other ends of said levers having pivotally connected thereto rods which rods are in turn pivotally connected to the ivoted front of the gin casing, when said casing; is pivoted upwardly, the cleaner bar will operative position for cleaning the saw teeth which may become clogged and gummed.
With the above and other ob'ects in view the invention resides in the com ination and arrangement of parts as hereinafter set forth, shown in the drawings, described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention ma be made within the scope of what s clalmed without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the drawings Figurel is a side elevation of a gin showin the cleaner operating mechanism applied thereto.
Fi 2 is a view similar to Fig. 1 with a side roken away to show the interior structure and the cleaner bar operating mechanism 0n the opposite side of the gin.
Fig. 3 is a top plan view of the cleaner bar.
Fig. 4 is a rear view of the gin, the rear SYDNEY Porn, 'a citizen of the United States, residing at Raymond, in the county of Pacific, -State ot Washington, have invented a new and e moved upwardly to GIN-CLEANER.

wall being broken away to show the cleaner bar within the gin. a Figp5 is a perspective view of the operatmg lever at oneend of the gin showing a portion of the cleaner bar in the bifurcated end thereof.
Referring to the drawings, the numeral 1 designates a conventional form ofgin and 2 the sides thereof. The gin casing comprises sections 3 and 4 which are hingedly connected together as at 5 thereby allowing access to the interior of the gin when the hinged section 4 is moved outwardly and upwardly at its lower end.
Rotatably mounted in the gin casing 1 is a drum comprislnga plurality of gin saws 6, which saws as they revolve gather the fiber, pass the same around and between the gin ribs 7, said gin ribs being spaced apart a sufficient distance to allow the cotton to pass through the same but not sufliciently far apart to allow the passage of the cotton seed, thereby separating the cotton fiber from the seed. It has been found that as the saws 6 revolve that they become gummed and clogged, that is gummed from the cotton seed and clogged with cotton fiber. When this occurs 1t is necessary for the operator to clean the saws manually while they are revolving which operation is a slow and dangerous one. To overcome this difiiculty and to quickly clean the saws the cleaner bar 8 is provided which extends transversely of the gin and has its ends provided with rectangular shaped portions 9 which are slidably mounted in arouate slots 10 in the sides of the pivoted section 4 of the gin frame. Extending upwardly from the upper face of the cleaner bar 8 are cleaning fingers 11, which fingers clean the saw teeth as they revolve, thereby obviating the manual cleaning of the saw teeth as is now the practice. Extending outwardly from the rectangular shaped portions 9 are the reduced cylindrical portlons 12, which cylindrical portions are disposed in the bifurcations 13 of segmentally shaped levers 14. The levers 14 are pivoted at their central points 15 to the section 3 of the gin frame and are adapted to be rocked on said rods is connected pivotally as at 17 to each lever 14, while the other ends of said rods 16 are connected pivotally as at 18 to the The operation is as follows. When the saws become clogged the lower end of the sides of the casing section 4:.
casing 4: is moved outwardly, thereby causthereby forcing thefingers ll'of the cleaner bar into position whereby the teeth of the saws will becleaned as they revolve. Dur-- xing this operation it will be seen that it has not been necessary for the operator to place his hands in any'position where they may be injured'by the revolving saws. It will also be seen that enough fingers are provided for cleanlng all of the saws lIl OIlG operation,
thereby reducing the time for a saw cleanping operation to a minimum.
It is obvious that in some types of gins the bar 8 maybe forced upwardly intooperative position by a foot operated lever instead of through the connecting rod 16.
From the above it will be seenthat a gin V saw cleaning device is provided which is simple in construction and one whereln the device may be applied to various types of gins without materially changing their structures.
The invention having been set forth what is claimed as new and useful is The combination with a gin having rotatable saws therein, of a saw cleaning device therefor, said saw cleaning device C0111- prising a bar extending transversely of the gin and disposed beneath the saws, upwardly extending fingers carried by the bar, the ends of said cleaner bar being rectangular shaped and slidably mounted in segmentally shaped upwardly extending slots in the sides of the gin, a lever pivoted to the sides of the gin at a point centrally of the lever, one end of said lever being provided with a bifurcation in which the ends of the cleaner bar are disposed and means for rocking said lever for forcing the cleaner bar upwardly and the cleaner fingers into a position for cleaning the teeth of the saws.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
