MoLn-rnnssme MACHINE.
Application filed September 18, 1919.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HUGO EMIL Pn'rrnnssoN, citizen of the Kingdom of Sweden, residing at Brahegatan 14:, Stockholm, Sweden, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Mold-Pressing Machines, of which the following is a specification.
his invention relates to sand molding machines in which the sand is pressed by hydraulic or pneumatic means. In certain machines of this type a presser head or bearing is mounted above the flask and presser piston and must be turned to the side when the molding sand is to be introduced into the flask. The presser head or bearing usually turns on a pillar arranged at one side of the flask and 1s provided with a link devicefor connecting of the machine, as soon as it is turned in a position directly above the flask so that the presser head is connected to the fixed frame by means of the said pillar and the link device and thereby withstands the upward pressure exerted by the piston in ramming the sand. In the usual machines of this kind the workmen frequently omit to connect this link device with the fixed support, so that the pillar is very often bro-ken on the pressure fluid being admitted to the piston, thus necessitating expensive repairs.
The present inventlon relates to an arrangement for obviating this inconvenience and consists in combining with the said link device, connecting the presser head and the xed frame, stop means for the inlet valve of the pressure fluid, said stop means cooperating with the link device in such a manner that it prevents the inlet valve for the the counter bearing is not connected to the frame. p The machine is illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which Figure 1 is a side view, Fig. 2 is a view looking at right angles to ig. 1, and Figs. 3 and 4 are detail views looking in the same directions as in Figs. 2 and 1 respectively and showing the safety locking device disconnected from the machine. 7
1 is the machine frame, 2 the flask, 3 the hydraulic pressing cylinder and 4 the presser head or bearing, which is fixed in an arm 6, turning on the pillar 5 and in its outer end supporting a link 7. This link 7 can be brought to engage with a hook shaped part 8 on the fixed frame, which Specification of Letters Patent.
it to the ,fixed frame pressure fluid from being opened, when Patented Aug. 16-, 1921. Serial No. 324,494.
part 8 also supports a bent lever 10, acted upon by a spring 9 and by means of a link 11 connected to a bolt 12, which-when the link arm is not connected to the frame projects into the path of a shoulder 14 on a hand lever 16 for the pressure inlet valve 15, so that the opening of this valve is prevented as long as the link 7 is out of engagement with the hook shaped part 8, as shown in Figs. 3 and 4.
As soon as the link 7 has been connected to the frame by means of the hook 8 (as shown in Figs. 1 and 2) the bolt 12 is moved from the path of the shoulder 14 of the handlever 16, thus permitting the valve 15 to be opened.
I claim 1. In a sand molding machine in which the sand is rammed between a fluid actuated piston in a fixed frame and a presser'head adapted to swing on a pillar to" permit of the introduction of the sand, in combination: a depending link pivoted to the presser head, a catch device on the fixed frame for engaging the said link, valve operating means on the fixed frame for the control of the pressure fluid to the said piston, and a stop device for preventing the operation of said valve operating means unless the presser head is in correct position over the piston and the said link is in engagement with the said catch.
2. In a sand molding machine in which the sand is rammed between a fluid actuated piston in a fixed frame and a presser head adapted to swing on a pillar to permit of the introduction of the sand, in combination: a depending link pivoted tothe presser head, a hook device on the fixed frame for engaging the said link, ahand lever for the control of the pressure fluid to the piston and stop means for said lever comprising a lever operated by the said link when same is engaged with the hook, a spring for of fecting the return movement of the lever, and a stop bolt operated by the said lever and adapted to obstruct the movement of the hand lever and so prevent the operation of the piston when the link is disengaged from the said hook device.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signa ture in presence of two witnesses.
