The principal objects of my 'invention are to provide an equipment stand arranged to be placed in convenient proximity to a den-- tal opera ting chair, and in which the pedestal of said stand supports aswitchboard through which air, gas and electric current may be supplied to the accessory devices ernployed, and to so construct said pedestal that the water for the spittoon may be supplied therethrough.
y Other objects of my invention are to provide an equipment stand with the controlling parts and implements so conveniently arranged as to be within easy reach of the operators position, and to afford free and 'convenient access of the operator to said parts and implements without interfering with the use of the spittoon by the patient.
Specifically stated, the form of my invention as hereinafter described, comprehends an equipment stand comprising a pedestal supporting a switchboard from where the various devices employed may be controlled,
and havinga hollow arm extended laterally and upwardly therefrom for supporting a spittoon, and through which pedestal the electrical connections may extend from said switchboard to a distributing station positioned therein, where the electrical connections fromv the various devices employed may be made with the line circuit.
My invention also includes all of the various novel features of arrangement and construction as hereinafter more definitely specilied. Y
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a front elevational view showing a convenient embodiment of my invention; and Fig. 2 is a side elevational view of the structure shown in Fig. 1.
` In said figures,the pedestal 1 is formed of a hollow column, having the base 2, and terminates at its upper end in the accessory head 3, embodying a switchboard 4, and having suitable air outlets controlled by valves 5, 6 and 7, and pressure regulators 8 and 9, including their respective indicators 10 and 11, and the electric current regulators or rheostats 12, 13 and 14, respectively carrying indicating pointers arranged to indicate by the graduations of the respective dials 15, 16 and 17, the amount of current admitted to the. respective implements.
The pedestal 1 is provided with a laterally and upwardly extended hollow arm 19, which conveniently supports the spittoon bowl 20 and tumbler-holder 21, carrying the tumbler 22, being supplied with water through'the water supply pipe 23, which is controlled by the valves 24 and 25. The waste water discharged from the spittoon bowl 20 and tumbler-holder 21 is carried through the arm 19 and waste-pipe 26, which latter extends through the pedestal 1, and may be connected with any suitable outlet leading to the sewer.
The accessory head 3 conveniently carries the engine 30, comprising the motor 31 and hand piece 32; the spray bottle-holder 33 comprising the spray bottles 35 and 36 and tumbler 37; a spot lamp 40 which is connected by universal joints 41 and 42 and link 43 with the arm 45 and standard 46;
and the bracket table 47 pivotally supportedv by the bracket arm 49.
The outlets in the accessory head which are controlled by their respective valves 5, 6 and 7 may'have connected therewith various air actuated implements, such as the spray 'bottle-valve 51, being connected by the flexible tubing 52 with the outlet having the valve 5; the chip blower 53 being connected by the flexible tubing 54 with the outlet having the valve 6'; and the hot air syringe 55 being connected by the fiexible tubing 56 with the outlet having the valve 7.
As clearly shown in Fig. 1, the chip blower 53, spray bottle valve 51 and hot air syringe 55 may be supported within the accessory head when not in use, and may be removed therefrom when desired; the flexible connections thereto being disposed in depending loops within the pedestal l.
The bracket table 47 is provided with the gas burner 60 which is connected by the flexible tubing 6l with the nipple of the gas controlling valve 63 in the pipe 64, which leads through the pedestal l, and which is arranged to be connected with any suitable source of gas supply by the union 65.
The compressed air for the chip blower 53, spray bottle valve 5l and hot air syringe 55 is directed into the accessory head by the air pipe 66 leading through the pedestal l, and having the union 67 by which it is arranged to be connected through the base 2 with any suitable source of air supply.
The electrically operated devices are connected to the switchboard by the leads 70 forming a cable, which extends through the pedestal l to a suitable distributing station, comprising the resistance 71 and junction box72 at or near the base of the pedestal l.
As shown in Fig. l, a sheath or conduit 73 is provided to protect the cable from any moisture incident to drip or condensation on the pipes passing through the pedestal l.
The motor 3l of the engine 30 is arranged to be controlled by a foot controller of aI well-known form, not shown, which is con nected by the flexible cord 75 with the leads of the motor, and is thereby conveniently operated by the foot of the operator.
It will be obvious that by supporting the accessory head embodying the switchboard at the top of the pedestal, great convenience to the operator is afforded and a consequent saving of time eliected, as well as conserving valuable Hoor space, and permittin free access to the spittoon by the patient without hindering the work of the operator.
I do not desire to limit my invention to the precise details of construction and arrangement as herein specified, as it is obvious that various modifications may be made therein without departing from the essential features of my invention as dened in. the appended claims.
