To all whom 1'1 muy concern Be it known that I, ,Yarns FisHBAom a citizen of the United States, residing at Carrollton, in the county of Greene and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Urinals, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.

rThis invention'relates to urinals and particularly to a urinal for use Vby an invalid or person confined to bed.

An object of the invention is to provide a device of this character capable of being readily emptied, and which will not spill the con tents unless disposed in a certain position.

Another object is to provide'a device of this character so constructed. that it will always be maintained yupon its bottom and wherein the top of the container serves as a portion of the main conduit.

A still further object of the invention 1s to provide a device of this character having substantially triangular ends so that the upper portions of the sidesy aswell as the top of the container serve as portions ofthe main conduit and wherein no removable parts such as caps or Stoppers are necessary in order to permit the container to be emptied.

`With the above and other objects in view, the invention consists in the improved construction and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more particularlyT described, fully claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which t- Figure 41-is a top plan view of a urinal constructed in accordance with an embodiment of the invention.

Referring to the drawings, 5 designates a container having triangular ends 6 and 7, a lbroad bottom 8 and a narrow top 9. rl`he top portion of the container includes a tubular extension 10 which serves as the'mouth of the container. The lower end portion 11 of the extension is secured to the end 7 within an opening 12 formed therein closelyV adjacent the top 9. In this way, the top 9 of the container also. serves as a portion ofthe mouth.

In order to prevent the contents of the container from becoming accidentally discharged, I provide a novel form of conduit member consisting of a semi-circulartrough `toward the end 6 and has its end 15 disposed in spaced relation to the inner surface of the end 6. ln view of the inclined position of the trough or conduit member 13, the same will permit the matter discharged into the container to readily flow to the end 6, and over the end 15.

Disposed within the container, is a second conduit member or trap 16 which is also constructed in the form of a semi-circular trough. rlhe sides of the conduit member 16 are secured to the sides of the container while the end 17 is lsecured to the end 6 of the container in spaced relation to the end 15 of the conduit 1,3. site end 7 of the container, the end 18 of the conduit member 16 terminating adjacent the intermediate portion of the container, in spaced relation to the bottom 8 and the lower surface of the conduit member 13.

in viewof the novel arrangement of the conduit members 13 and 16 a substantially stepped or indirect conduit or passage-way -is provided so that the matter discharged into the conduit 13 iiows in one direction, over the end 15 ,and then is directed in the opposite direction, over the end 18 to the bottom of the container. The conduit member 16 is considerably shorter than the conduit member 13 so that the same does not interfere with the capacity of the interior of the container. At the same time the conduit member 16 prevents the matter in the container from accidentally flowing out through the extension 10 should the container be accidentally turned upon its sides so that accidental spilling is practically impossible.

To empty the container, the same is tilted so as to cause the matter therein to flow toward the end 7. rfhe container is then inverted so that the bottom 8 is above the top 9 whereupon the conduit member 16 serves as a funnel to permit the matter to flow through the passage formed by the conduit member 13 and the top portion 9.

From the foregoing it will be readily seen that this invention provides a novel form'of urinal which, in view of its simplicity is sanitary in every respect as there are no detachable parts or closure means At the same time it is compact in form, very convenient to use and cannot be accidentallyv :upset in'view of its triangular formation,

and even if it is upset, it is necessary to maintainthe upper end in va horizontal plane before the matter will be discharged, so that it is practically impossible to spill the contents of the container. rIhev device is adapted for use by the male sex but it is obvious that the-extension 10 may be altered to perand modifications may be resorted to without departing from the Vspirit and scope of the claims.

A device of `the character described comprising` a portable 'container having a combined inlet and outlet member in one end, amember disposed within the container v and out of the cont adjacent the inlet and outlet member and coacting therewith to provide a conduit, and a second conduit disposed beneath one end of the first mentioned conduit, whereby the lower surface of the first mentioned conduit and the top portion of the container receive Y Y and direct the liquid when the container is positioned to discharge the liquid therefrom.
