To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that we, Bron OSCAR WALTER HESSELMAN and OSKAR GOTTFRID MEINHARD MATTssoN, of Stockholm, Sweden, subjects of the King of Sweden, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Machines for Producing Hollow Bricks, (in which we have filed applications in Sweden the 16th June, 1914; in Hungary the 29th April, 1914; in Portugal the 25th May, 1914; in Russia the 22nd April, 1914, (Russian style in Finland the 27th April, 1914; in Norway the 25th April, 1914; in Denmark the 11th April, 1914; in Belgium the 5th May, 1914; in Switzerland the 16th June, 1914; in Holland the 29th June, 1914; in France the 4th Ma 1914; all filed by Aktiebolaget Lean, Stockholm, with our knowledge and consent,) of which the following is a specification.
In producing hollow bricks in molds movable in one direction and provided-with cores movable in the opposite direction it is important that this movement is absolutely exact so that no displacement of the molds or of the cores tending to destroy the bricks produced, can arise. The present invention relates to a machine in which the molds and the cores have a very'precise movement relatively to one another, being supported by two plates or holders connected to one another at the ends bydouble levers.
The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a side view and Fig. 2 an end view of the machine. Fig. 3 shows a detail.
The machine consists of a table or the like 1, supported by suitable tubular uprights 6. Over the top of the table a holder or plate 3for the outer molds 7 is provided, the inner molds or the cores 4'being attached to another holder or plate '2 under the table. The table is provided withopenings for the cores so that the same can pass into the outer molds 7. The plate 2 is provided with eyes or sleeves surrounding the tubular uprights and being guidedbythe same, the plate 3 being provided with bars 5, movable in the said uprights. The upper plate 3- supporting the outer molds 7 is provided with openings 8, corresponding to the inner cross sectionof the outer molds, these openings serving to make it possible toinsert the material into the molds and for its packing in the same. At each end of the frame double levers 10 are provided, being pivotally attached to the plates 2 and 3 respectively and stub shaft 37. The levers 10 are by means of links 14, 15, connected with a common shaft 13 operated by means of a lever 16. For facilitating the manipulation of the lever 16 and beginning the movement, a treadle 25 is loosely mounted on the shaft 13 and rests with a dog 26 against the lever 16. B pressing down the treadlethe dog 26 will, with the aid of the lever 16 rotate the shaft 13, whereby the movement begins and the lever 16 is brought in such position that it can be readily gripped by the machine attendant.
For packing the materials in the molds a system or pistons 17 is used, this system being supported by a lever 18, attached to a rotatable upright shaft or bar 35. The shaft 35 passes through a hollow sleeve or bearing 36 on the plate 3 and is provided with a notch, in WlllCh engages a lever 22 arranged on the stand and pivoted to the link 33 and at the one end influenced by a weight 21. The lever 22 is held by the weight 21 in such a position that it tends to hold the shaft 35 elevated, so that the pistons do not reach the table 3, when they are brought to or from their position. Midway between the pistons the lever 18 is provided with a recess for a wooden plug 19, on which it is possible to strike with a hammer, thereby pressing the pistons in the molds. The lever 22 is at its front end connected with a treadle 24 by means of a link 23, the weight 21 being lifted up by pressing down this treadle. The lever 22 is provided with a pivoted hook 27, adapted to engage a pin 28 attached to the table 1, so that when the lever 22 is pressed down by means of the treadle 24, it is held in the depressed position. As the lever 22 influences the upright shaft 35, this shaft and the pistons 17 will therefore also be held depressed, until the hook 27 is released from engagement with the pin 28. This is accomplished by means of a lever 31, attached to at the same moment just before the molds quite leave the stones.

By the lifting of plate 3 the hook 27-will be released from engagement with the pin 28, whereby the pressure against the bricks ceases. The completed bricks remain on the plates and can be removed, and thenthe same process is repeated.
Having now particularly described and ascertained the nature of our said invention and in what manner the same is'to be performed, wedeclare thatwhat we claim is 1 In a machine for molding blocks, the

In a machine for molding hollow blocks, the combination of a table, tubular uprights supporting said table, a plate, an inner mold-part attached to said plate, sleeves slidably carried by said tubular uprights and attached to said plate, a second plate having legs movable within said tubular uprights, an outer mold-part attached to said second plate, and means for moving said mold-parts into and out of operating position.

In a machine for molding hollow blocks, the combination of inner and outer assemblable mold-parts, means for moving the mold-parts into operative and inoperative positions, a plunger for applying pressure to the molded block while the mold is assembled, a shaft, a lever connecting said shaft and said lun er means for normall maintaining said plunger in inoperative position, means for maintaining said plunger in its operative position while said moldparis are assembled and means for automatically returning the plunger to its inoperative position when the mold-parts reach their inoperative position.
18. In a machine for molding hollow blocks, the combination of inner and outer assemblable mold-parts, a plunger for applying pressure to the molded block while the mold is assembled, a shaft, a lever connecting said shaft and said plunger, a notch in said shaft, a lever engaging said notch, a weight on one end of said lever normally maintaining said plunger in inoperative position, and means for maintaining said plunger in its operative position while said moldparts are assembled.
14;. In a machine for molding hollow blocks, the combination of inner and outer assemblable mold-parts, a plunger for applying pressure to the molded block while the mold is assembled, means tending to maintain said plunger in its inoperative position, a shaft, a lever connecting said shaft and said plunger, means for moving said plunger into operative position, a second lever engaging said shaft, a hook pivoted to said second lever, a pin movable with said inner moldpart and engaging said hook to maintain said plunger in its operative position, and a lever movable with the outer mold-part and adapted to release said hook from said pin.
