WASHBOILER-PROTECTOR.
I Application filed April 2,
Z '0 (all to 7mm it may concern Be it known that I,'MAX WENSAUER, a
citizen of the United States, residing at Sheboygan, in the county of Sheboygan and State of lVisconsin, have invented a new and useful YVashboiler-Protector, of which the following is a specification.
7 space the wash boiler vertically from a stove,
whereby to prevent the bottom of the boiler from sliding on the stove, a wearing of the bottom of the boiler being avoided, and the stove being shielded against being soiled by soot or the like on the bottom of the boiler. Another objectfl of the invention is to provide a support for wash boilers which will surround the boiler adjacent to the bottom thereof, thereby preventing the sides of the boiler, or the angle defined by the side and the bottom of the boiler, from being dented or damaged.
It is within the province of the disclosure to improve generally and to enhance the utility of devices of that type to which the invention appertains.
With the above and other objects in view, which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that, with in the scope of what is claimed, changes in the precise embodiment of the invention shown can be made without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the accompanying drawings Figure 1 shows in end elevation, a wash boiler whereunto the device forming the subject matter of this application has been applied; Fig. 2 is a bottom plan of a wash boiler, carrying the device forming the supject matter of this application; Fig. 3 1s a fragmental perspective View showing a portion of the strip out of which the support is made; Fig. 4 is a fragmental perspective showing a modified form of the invention; Fig. 5 discloses, in bottom plan, a wash boiler equipped with a modified form of the invention; and Fig. 6 is a bottom plan of a wash boiler wherewith has been assembled a still further modification of the invention.
In carrying out the invention as disclosed Specification ofLetter's Patent.
Patented Au". 2, 1921.
1920. Serial No. 370,795.
in Figs. 1, 2 and 3, there is provided a loopshap'ed member 1 comprising U-shaped parts 2. The parts 2 are fashioned from a strip 3 of metal. Brackets 4 are struck inwardly from constituent strips of the parts 2, intermediate the upper and lower edges of said strips, the striking in of the brackets 4 defining openings 5.
Each of the parts of the loop-shaped member l is provided at one end with an ear 6 in the form of an angle member. The other end of each part 2 is bent to form an outwardly projecting ear 7 Ilhe ear 6 is set back far enough from the extremity of the corresponding end, so that the same defines a tongue 8, overlapped on and'eXtended beneath the cooperating end of the other part 2, as clearly disclosed in'Fig. 2 of thedrawing. The ears 6 and 7 are connected by a tightening device of'any desired sort, preferably a bolt or nut 9.
In practical operation, a wash boiler 10 is located within the loop-shaped member 1 and is supported on the brackets 4:. The tightening devices 9 are manipulated, so as to cause the parts 2 of the loop-shaped member 1 to grip the boiler 10 closely. The bottom of the boiler is spaced, by the brackets 4 from the stove, and, consequently, the bottom of the wash boiler will not be worn by sliding in contact with the stove, nor will the stove be soiled by soot or the like, adhering to the bottom of the wash boiler. Further, the boiler 10 is reinforced by the loopshaped member 1, so that neither the side wall of? the boiler nor the bottom thereof will be dented adjacent to the angle defined by the side wall and the bottom.
It is not necessary that the brackets 4.- be struck from the strip 3, as shown in Fig. 3. Thus, as delineated in Fig. 4;, the strip is denoted by the numeral 11, the brackets being in the form of angle members 12 attached by securing devices 14, such as rivets, to the strip 11.
In Fig. 5, the loop-shaped member 15 comprises the U-shaped parts 16 and 17 provided with inwardly projecting brackets 18 of the kind above alluded to. Ears 19, in the form of angle members, are secured to the part 16 in spaced relation to the extremities of said part, thereby defining tongues 21 projecting behind the ends of the part 17 the extremities of the part 17 being bent outwardly to form ears 20, the cars 19 and being connected by tightening devices 22. The wash boiler 23 fits in the loopshaped member 15, above described in connection with the device shown inFig. '2, and is supported on the bracket 8.
As shown in Fig. 6, the loop-shaped meniber appears at 24 and is fashioned from a single piece of material provided with in-' wardly projecting brackets 25, supporting the wash boiler 30. One end of the member 2i is bent outwardly to form an ear 27, an
in spaced relation to the extremity of said end, therebyv defining a tongue 28, overlapped upon and extended beneath the end which is provided with the ear'27. The ears 26 and 27 are united by a securing device, such as a bolt and nut 29. a
In all forms of the, invention, the device embodies 'a loop-shaped member provided intermediate its upper and lower edges with inwardly projecting brackets, and having Having thus described the invention, what ing bracketsand having relatively movable ends, and a tightening devicegconnecting said ends, the brackets being located intermediate the upper and lower edges of the strip, thereby tojsupport a boiler out of contact with the heater. 7
2. A. support for wash boilers comprising a loop-shaped member provided intermediate its upper andlower edges with inwardly projecting brackets, and having relatively movable ends, said ends being supplied with outwardly extended ears, oneear being set back, from the extremity ofthe correspond ing end to define a tongue prolonged behind the other of said ends; and a tightening device connecting the ears. V
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own, I have hereto aflixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
