hio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements inBlowers; and I do hereby declare the following exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which -it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention i relates to grain stackers v or elevators and the primary object of the invention is to provide an improved means for elevating grain from the thresher to the bins in the grainery. i
Another object of the invention is to provide an improved pneumatic grain elevator, which is so constructed that grain can be effectively elevated a considerable height.
A further object of` the invention is to provide an improved pneumatic grain elevater, which can be `readily cai'ried fromone place to another, and taken apart when desired. i i i A further `objectof the invention is to provide an improved i pneumatic grain stacker embodying a pair of `if'ans operatively connected together, one of which is adapted to take the grain from the hopper and throw the same upwardly, and the other being adapted to throw a strong stream of air into the grain, at a point above the first fan. Referring to the drawings. in detail, wherein similar reference characters desig- .nate corresponding parts throughout the f several views, the numeral 1 generally indicates the improved ltor, which includes t neumatic grain elevaie supporting frame 2, and the blowers 3.

The frame 2 includes the longitudinally extending side bars 5, having the reduced ends 6 forming handles whereby the same may be, readily grasped and carried from one place to the other. The longitudinally extending bars 5 are provided adjacent each end with vertically extending recesses 7, which are adapted to receive stakes or the like so that the samecan be securely fastened to the frame 2 is formed relaground and thus prevented from accidental v displacement. The longitudinally extending bars 5 are connected by the transverse bars 8 and the transverse and longitudinal bars are securely bolted together as at 9.
The blower 3 includes the casing 10, having the side plates or walls 11 and the front and rear walls 12 and 13, which are preferably forined from la single strip oi" material rbent to conform to the conliguratioi'l of the 9 side edges of the side plates and held thereto by "means of bolts 14. The casing is provided with transverse curved partltions 15 and 16, which divide the same into substantially circular i'an casings 17 and 18. The upper fan casing 18 is located slightly in advance of the lower fan casing 17 and the upper casing is provided with bearings 19 for rotatably receiving the shaft 2() which protrudes outwardly `from one end thereof and has keyed theretothe drive pulley 21 which is adapted to be connected by a suitmover, not shown. The outwardly extendshaft 20 is received in a so as to form a substantial base Y bolted the blades 28. The tan casing is provided with an upstanding A outlet 29;, which is,

TheA outlets 29 and 3() ot theupper and lower fans converge, as stated, into a tubular extension 151', which receives the pipe which may be made in any number ot serltions so that the grain can he elevated to the desired height. The upper end ot the pipe 2 has connected thereto a novel torni ot elbow coupling 53, v'liich is curved 'torwardly as at 54E and then downwardly as at 55 `and terminates in a reduced `horizontal portion 56 to which may be secured .the branchV pipes for conveying the grain to the desired bins. The Ldowinvardly and kthen forwardly curved portions 55 and 5G of the elbow connection 53 serve to allow the blast ot air to act fully upon the .grain in the branch pipe. As the blast of air comes up the pipe 52, the same Istrikes the turn 5i in the elbow and is deiected downwardly striking the forwardturn 55 lel' the pipe and Lthen directed into the branch pipe.

An opening 57 4.is formed in .the rear wall of `the casing-located intermediate the fans so that `the grainean'be let out `ot said opening in case the grain isL :ted Iinto the fan too fast, before the machine has reached 'tall speed. IThis opening is closed by a door 58, which is pivoted intermediate its ends, as at `58%, on one of "the bolts which hold fthe .sides of the easing in place. The door .58 .also Vforms ,a ,valve to prevent the grain from `being ,thrown up into the outlet too fast and has -a weight 59 secured thereto, so asto .normallyhold the same closed. The valve can be regulated so as to control the Yhow of the ygrain through the outlet.
An idlepulley 60 is journaled on a shaft 61,which 'is pivotallry secured to the easing as at 62, andzthe ,pulley is 'normally held into .engagementvwiththe Abelt t4 by means of' the spring 63 coiled around the regulating rrod 64: adjustably carried by anear G5 exr- Jtending outwardly from the easing.
From the foregoing description, it can be see'n that an :improved l,pneumatic elevator' is provided :for grain, which willell'ectively raise the/grain to the desired height.
In practice, I have found that the form .of my invention illustrated ,in the accom panying drawings and referred `to in the 20 V specied comprising a fan blower, a conduit above description, as the preferred e1nbodiment, is the lnost eiiicient and practical; yet realizing the conditions concurrent with the adoption of my device will necessarily vary, I desire to emphasize that various minor changes 'in details of construction, proportion and arrangement of parts may be resorted to, `when required without sacricing any of the advantages of my invention as set forth.
W hat I claim as new is:
1. A pneumatic appliance of the character specified comprsinur a fan blower, a conduit in communication with the -fan blower and having a lateral opening, and avalve pivoted at one side of the conduit in line with the opening thereof and extending across the conduit at a relatively upwardly and forwardly inclination.
2. A pneumatic appliance of the character 1n communication with the fan blower and having a lateral opening, a bolt positioned in the opening, and a valve pivoted on the bolt and extending across the conduit at an inclination and automatic in its action.
A pneumatic appliance of the character specified comprising relatively upper and lower fan blowers, a hopper at one side of the fan blowers and discharging into the lower fan blower casing, a conduit common to the casings of both fan blowers, a longitudinal partition dividing the conduit into independent passages, the outer passage having a lateral opening, and a valve extending through the lateral opening at an inclination and pivoted to the conduit.
