To all whom it may concern:

' a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Davidson,'in the county of Mecklenburg and State of North Carolina, have made .certain new and useful Improvements in Attachments for Cigarette-Holders, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to cigarette holders.

An object of my invention is the provision of an attachment for a cigarette holder by means of which a cigarette even when burned up to the holder, may be ejected without difliculty or inconvenience and securely'held within the holder against accidentah displacement until it {is desired to eject it.

I will describe one form of cigarette holder, and one form of attachment embodying m invention.

Referring specifically to the drawing, and particularly to Figs. 1 and 2, H designates a conventional form of cigarette holder which comprises in the present the holder and attachceiving socket 14' that communicates with.

My attachment is designated generally at A, and as shown in Figs. 3 and 4, comprises a T-shaped iece of resilient metal, a ortion of which is bent to provide asplit portion is bent upon itself as at 17 to provide a clip 18. the clip 18 embraces the holder in such manner that the lug 20 and lip 19 are disposed Within the socket 14. The band 16 partially encircles the octagonal body portion 10, and 1s preferably bent to a corresponding shape so as to prevent its rotation about-the holder and to lock the lip 19 in position.

When a cigarette is inserted within the socket 14 the inner end of the cigarette abuts the 11p 19, while the lug 20 embeds itself within the cigarette and thus prevents acsame. The lug maintain the cigarette within the holder when flicking the ashes from the cigarette,

' as this latter operation generally-causes the cigarette to fall out in the. holder of the ordinary construction.

When it is desired to eject from the holder, the short end or stub of a cigarette, it is only necessary to slide the band 16 forwardly on the holder, thus causing the lip 19 to 'move outwardly of the ing the cigarette from the socket.

When the attachment is gaging moved .forward to eject the cigarette, the shoulder 22 strikes .theshoulder 21 before the clip holder, so'that the entire attachment remains in operativefposition upon the holder to be returned to its normal position. I

Having described my invention, what .I claim is 1. In combination, a cigarette holder, having a shoulder formed thereon, an attachment comprising a band embracing the holder, a clip formed integrally with and arranged at right. angles to the band and adapted to embrace the inner and outer walls of the socket of the holder, a lip on the inner end of the clip and disposed within the socket, a lug on the clipin advance of the lip and disposed within the socket, and a shoulder on the band and adapted to engage the shoulder on the holder.

2. An attachment for cigarette holders comprising, a clip adapted to engage the walls of a socket in the cigarette holder, a lip formed on the clip and disposed within the socket, a lug in advance of the lip and disposed within the socket, a split band connected to said clip, and a shoulder formed on one edge of the band for the purpose described.
