GAME Arrnriiiru's.
; Application filed December 9, 1920. Serial No. 429,424. v
To all u: hom it may concern Be it known that I, Bonner A. G. M0- CoY, a citizen of Great Britain, and a resident of the city of New York, borough of Manhattan, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Game Apparatus of which the following is description.
My invention relates to a game apparatus and more particularly to an apparatus involving an indicator and an annular series of designated areas relatively to which the indicator revolves so that the point of stoppage of said indicator determines the particular player to receive a count.
The general object of the invention is to provide a game apparatus of the indicated character improved in various particulars with the idea of making it available for a large number of players and characterized by features designed to add interest to the game and promote convenience in the playing and counting. 1
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, it being understood that the drawings are merely illustrative of one example of the invention.
Figure 1 is a plan view of a game apparatus embodying my invention;
Fig. 2 is a vertical section;
Fig. 3 is a face view of one of the counters.
My improved apparatus includes a board 10 having a flange or rim 11 adjacent to the periphery together with a concentric annular partition 12 spaced from the rim 11, whereby to present an annular exterior zone 13 which is divided by radial partitions 14 and the rim 11 and partition 12 into compartments which are adapted to hold counters such as disks indicated by dotted lines at 15. Within the partition 12 is an annular series of cups 16 into which the counters indicated by dotted lines at 15 may be thrown and permitted to accumulate during successive spins of the indicating means.
Within the annular series of cups 16 is an annular zone divided into alternate areas 17 18 hearing identifying numbers or other symbols. The alternate areas are larger and smaller, the alternate areas of one series being approximately twice as large as those of the other series. Thus, the player to which one of the larger areas is assigned has twice the opportunity of scoring that numbered 1, 3, o and 7 have their numerals duplicated while the alternating larger areas 2, 4c, 6 and 8 bear the designating number without said number being duplicated on the board inward from the area. The pointer 20 is turnably mounted to be revolved within the annular series of designated areas. There may be an annular wall or partition 21 between said designated areas and the path of the pointer. The pointer 20 is here shown as rigid with a disk 22 at the periphcry of the latter, said disk having a head or knob 23 for turning it and the disk being mounted on a pin 24: rising from the board 10 at the center.
In playing the game diiferent designated counting areas will be assigned to the different players and the player will deposit his counters 15 in the corresponding exterior compartments. As each count is credited to a player he will deposit one of his counters in the adjacent cup 16. There will be a given number of spins in a given inning or game and at the end of the game the count of each player may be readily ascertained by the number of counters in his cup 16.
The several designated counting areas 1 to 8 may have suitable pictorial matter therein, such as representations of running horses and jockeys. Also, the numbers indicating the additional counts for certain areas may beproduced within appropriate ornamental figures such as the suits of playing cards.
Having thus described my invention, I claim:
1. A game apparatus comprising a board having a series of outer compartments adapted to hold counters, an annular series of receptacles radially inward from said compartments to receive deposited counters as the game is played, an annular series of designated areas radially inward from the annular series of receptacles, and a turn- Specifi'cation of Letters Patent. Patented June 21,1921. I
In the example shown the able indicating device within the annular the annular series of receptacles, and a turn- 10 series of counting areas. able indicating device Within the annular 2. A game apparatus comprising a board series of counting areas, alternate ones of having a, series of outer compartments said counting areas being of relatively 5 adapted to hold counters, an annular 'seriessmaller size, the board having symbols at of receptacles radially inward from said said smaller alternate areas indicating 15 compartments to receive deposited counters greatenvalue for said areas than for, the as the game is played, an annular series larger areas. 7 of designated areas radially inward from i ROBERT A. G. MCCOY.
