MEMORANDUM ATTACHMENT FOR ALBUMS.
Application fi led October 7,1919. Serial No. 329,133.
. lowing is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in memorandum attachments forpo's't-card or other picture albums and scrap-books, more especially for the loose leaves of such books.
The invention has for its object primarily to serve for readily and conveniently attaching or affixing the memorandum hearing means or tablet to'the post-card or al bum. I i A further object is to provide for compactly assembling the parts and simplifying the construction and arrangement thereof.
A still further object is to'provide for practically concealing the parts from view when not actuated'and to facilitate the withdrawal and return to initial position of the memorandum containing element.
A still further object is to carry out the aforesaid ends in an effective and inexpensive manner.
Other objects of the invention and those above recited will be made fully apparent from the following description of the construction, arrangement and operation thereof.
The invention consists of certain instrumentalities and features of construction substantially as hereinafter more fully disclosed and defined by the appended claims.
The accompanying drawing illustrates the preferred embodiment, or one form, of my invention wherein it will be understood that various changes and modifications may be made as to the detailed construction and arrangement of parts without departing from the spirit or scope thereof as covered by the claims, and in which drawings:
Figure 1 represents a face view of a looselea-fed book embodying any invention with parts broken away.
Fig. 2 is a detached front view of the memorandum bearing means, tablet or card, with its attaching member shown in dotted lines.
Fig. 3 is an edge elevation of the same, and
Fig. 4 is a perspective of a modification of the same.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June 14, '19'21.
Fig; 5 represents a vertical sectional view taken on the line ww' of Fig. 6, and. v
Fig. 6 is an edge elevation of the show ing disclosed more particularly :by F ig.1 5, parts in both these views being broken away.
In carrying out my invention, I may employ it, as above indicated, in conjunction with a loose-leafed book as A, album, scrapbook, post-card, or provide many other practical way for its utilization. The invention includes preferably a member 1,.whioh may be a tablet, a card or other suitable instrumentality capable of having suitably indicated or produced inemoranda' thereon, as a description, history or recital, usually in brief bearing upon the portrait or picture, post-card secured representation, etc. etc., which may be of interest and of us'eregarding the viewable subject-matter, all' of which, however, it will be appreciated isv only incidental and not germane to the incealed out of sight under the picture 2 and yet said tablet be slidable inwardly and outwardly with respect to the picture as presently explained. Suitable means, as clips or staples 3, suitably applied to the leaf, are provided for the attachment of the picture, the picture being preferably caught at its corners under the clips or staples, preferably as indicated.
The member or tablet 1 has at its bottom edge a manipulating tab 1 and has suitably affixed, preferably, to its underside, near or at its upper edge, by gluing or otherwise, the upper end of a flexible strip 4, the opposite or lower end of said strip being suitably afflxed preferably, in like manner, to the leaf of the album or book near its upper edge, as clearly seen in dotted lines as at 5 in Figs. land 2. The flexible strip 4 is formed with a plurality of closely produced transverse creases or scores as at 6, extendin%practically throughout its entire length.
y reason of this arrangement and construction of parts it will be observed that with the inserting or pushing of the memorandum inwardly, the creased flexible strip 4 will simultaneously be carried, in like manner, inwardly, causing the piling or folding thereof upon itself along the lines of its creases or scores and thus effect through such piling or creasing action the crowding or Wedging of the tablet into effectively secured position and Without the aid of any other fastening or retaining instrumentality or means. Also that upon simply pulling out the tab 1 of the tablet 1 causing folded up flexible-retaining strip Will be lengthened out or extended indicated in dotted lines in Fig. 3, thus requiring no furhe anipul io f P r s for 1 W drawal of said tablet or detaching of said strip to release it from the tablet or separating of the tablet and the retaining flexible str p or ha P rpose In the modification as, disclosed by Fig. 4,
I may form a memorandum tablet and its retainlng or securing flexible member, des gnated as 1 and 4" res ectivel in a sin leor t t P Y a y c ntinuous pi l F o th for gomg p e ta nand a companying lllust'ration, it is believed that the construction and 1 operation and utility a d mportane at my invention will'b epp da ed w th utf rt e elabor t o of th same along those lines.
