UNITED STAT-iis- To all whomitmdy concern:
-Dowagiac, county 'of Cass, State of Michian,4 have invented Vcertainnew and useful mprovementsin Furnaces, of which the following is a specification.
lThis invention relates to improvements in-V furnaces.
First, to provide a furnace with an improved casing supporting structurel which is adapted t0 beshipped or transported in the' knock-down form and easily set up and assembled by an unskilled workman.v
Second, to .l provide 'a casing supporting structure having vthese advantages in which the parts are simple and economical to produce and when assembled are very securely and ri idly supported'.
Furt er objects, and objects relatingv to structural detai1s wilt definitely appear from the detailed .description to follow.-
I accomplish the objects of my invention by thevdevices and means described Ain the following specification. "The invention is clearly defined and ointed out in the claims.
A structure whicli is a preferred embodiment of my invention .isclearl'y illustrated in the accompanying'drawings, forming a part of this application, inwhich:
Fi re I isa side. view of a furnaceeinbodying the featiiresof 'my invention partially'broken away "and partially in vertical section on a line corresponding to line 1-1 of Figs. V, VI and VI Fig. II isL a side elevation of the body of the'furna'ce. l y
Fi III is a frontview of the inner cas- IV is a detail side view showing the inner casing frame mounted upon the furnace body.
Fig. Vis a front elevation with the inner casing and front platev in position.
Fig. VI is a horizontal section on a line correspondiii'g'vto'line 6'6 of Fig I.
Fig. VII isfan enlarged' detail horizontal section on a line corre'spendingl to line 7-7 0f Fig. I. A Fig. VIII is e detail View -ofthe inner casing 'frame on a line. corresponding .to-
Figa IX is a fragmentary front. elevation withtli'ejrontplate removed. Fig.i i'jis'an-nlarged' dtail horizontal are taken lookingin the-dif1ieetion-of-the 1 little arrows at the ends ofthe sectionliiies; The main oblects of this invention are:

At its ends the yoke is provided with' rearwardly 'projectingfiugs 29 on the-rear.-
sides of the uprights and are retained Athere,- on by the keysv 30. .The crossbar 5 rests4 in slots 31 in the upper ends ofthe uprigli'ts.;
The parts of the inner casing frame may 4be formed as castings and are easily' assenibled upon the furnace body.
The u right membeis 4 are provided with outward y projecting flanges 7. while the top cross member 5 has forwardly .projecting upwardly facing lugs 8. The inner casing has an opening at the front and is arrange with its ends lap ed upon vthe flanges 7 and secured thereto gy the bolts 10. The top edge 11 of the casing member opening is. engaged with lche lugs 8 of the cross member 5. the cross member being curved to fit within the casing as is' shown in Fig VII.
los
The inner casino is supported alt the rear front plate issecured -to the passage members '2 and.3 thefsame vbeing provided with bolt engaging lugs 16.' The front plate is arranged against theedge of 4the, inner-.cas-
`ing frame as' shown, the front' plate being referabl 'providedwith a rib joint memer 17, w ile the casinfr frame has a coacting roove joint mem and f. 4
, The outer casing-19 is mounted upon the base 'ring 20 and liasan opening to receive theface plate, the 'edges' of'th'e opening being secured to the flanges 1-1 of the'face plate by the bolts21. 1
.The structure illustrated is of the type enerally designated as pipeless or one regi lster furnaces, the register 2:2 having a central hot air section/and a surrounding or b 'order cold air section 23, so that in use the air circulates downwardly through the sec-v tion 23 between the casings and upwardl)1 Vunder the lower end of the inner casing .which is supported in an elevatedl position, as shown in the drawings, around the furnace body upwardly through the'hot air re ister.
trucltures embodying my improvements are very easily assembled by `unskilled workmen and when assembled are very "'strong'and-rigid. The parts may be readily -shipped or transported in the knockdown. .I have not attempted yto show certain modifications and adaptations-which I contemplate,` as I believe the disclosure made will enable those skilled in the art to which my invention relates to ernbodjT or adapt the same as ,may be desired.
