IMPROVEMENT IN BEE'HIVES.
.Specification forming pint of Letters Patent No. 137,834; dated April 15, 1873; application filed s February 13, 1871.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES FINN, of Des Moines, in the county of Polk and State of Iowa, have invented certain Improvements in Bee-Hives, of which the following is a specification:
My invention is an improvement of my double-wall hive, patented May 3, 1870 5 and consists in forming the outside wall with sheetpaper and upright laths in such manner that the space between the walls may be filled with straw, or its equivalent, as rapidly as the outside wall is put on.

A A A is the inside wall built up around a form of any size desired, with alternate layers of wood and paper, or equivalents, as described in my original patent. B B is the outside wall, formed by nailing upright wooden laths or strips on projecting pieces attached to the upper and lower edges of the inside wall. 0 O is a sheet of paper board placed under the the upright strips, and nailed on with the strips. As rapidly as the outside wall is thus formed the space between the walls may be filled with straw, as represented in the drawmg.
The paper 6 O prevents the straw from showing and protruding, and also prevents insects from getting between the walls and in the straw. It also serves to carry ofl' moisture. The upright strips should not be joined together tightly. The numerous seams between the strips and all around the hive will allow the moisture to escape from the hollow wall or the straw stufling.

Claim.
I claim as my invention- The combination of the inner wall AA, when composed of alternate layers of wood and paper, substantially as described, the paper (J, and the series of uprights B B, in the manner and for the purposes set forth.
