UNITED STATES MARTHA A. YATES AND ODAVILLE YATES, OF PORTLAND, OREGON.
RACK.
Specification of Letters Patent. Patented May 1'1, 1921 Application filed August 20, 1919. Serial No. 318,764,
Be it known that we, MARTHA A. Yarns and ODAVILLE YATES, citizens of the United States, residing at Portland, in the county of Multnomah and State of Oregon, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Racks; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to racks, and more particularly to a rack specially adapted for holding toilet articles.
One of the main objects of the invention is to provide a rack of simple construction and operation which is adapted to support a plurality of towels and similar'articles, the towel holding means being also adapted to support toothbrushes or like articles.
A further object is to provide a rack of the character stated which may be produced at comparatively small cost' and may be readily applied.
Further objects will appear from the detailed description.
In the drawings:
Figure l is a front view of a rack constructed in accordance with the invention.
Fig. 2 is a top plan view.
Fig. 3 is a section taken substantially on line 38 of Fig. 1.
The rack includes a main supporting bar 1 of substantial U-shape the ends of the arms of which are secured by plates 2 to a suitable base board 3. This bar is provided with a plurality of tubular towel holding members at secured thereto in vertical position, each of these members being formed of sheet metal of suitable gage and having its upper end portion turned over at right necessarily, of substantial ovoidal shape in I cross section so as to produce the desired resiliency of the gripping arms, the towel or other similar article to be secured being readily inserted into the tube from either end thereof and removed by being drawn from the tube at either end.
What we claim is:
As a new article of manufacture, a rack comprising a transverse bar, a plurality of spaced leaves formed on said bar and eartended vertically with their side edges rolled inwardly toward one another and theirv flared upper ends turned back in a horizontal plane and provided with notches-in their opposed edges, the notches being adapted to accommodate handles of toothbrushes, the
upstanding portions of the leaves forming tubes to receive towels to be suspended in spaced relation with respect to the stationary support.
In testimonywhereof we aiiix our signatures in presence of two witnesses.
MARTHA A. YATES. ODAVILLE YATES.
