To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, EVERETT MCDILL, a citizen of the United States, and resident of Sparta, in the county of Randolph and State of Illinois, have invented a new and Improved Mail-Receptacle Support, of

which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

This invention relates to supports for mail boxes or receptacles and is particularly designed for use in rural districts.

The primary object of the present invention' is to provide means for revolubly supporting a plurality of mail containers or receptacles from a single supporting standard whereby the standard may be positioned within a fence at one side of the road in such which is simple in construction, inexpensive to manufacture and which maybe readily installed at a minimum expense.

With these and other objects in view, some of which will be more apparent hereafter, reference is made to the following description, claims and accompanying drawings,'in which- Figure 1 is a fragmentary side elevation with parts in section to disclose the underlying structure.

Fig. 2 is a fragmentary plan view thereof.

Fig. 3 is a detail cross sectional view taken on the line 33 of Fig. 1.

Fig. 4 is a similar view taken on the line 44: of Fig. 1. V

Referring to the drawings, which illustrate the preferred embodiment of the invention, 10 designates a post or standard here illustrated as of hollow cylindrical formation which is provided adjacent its upper open end with an annular groove'll. A hub 12 having a vertical bore 13 closed at its upper end is provided and is adapted to be rotatably mounted on the upper extremity of the standard 10. A collar 14: is adjustably arranged on the standard and retained in its adjusted positions by means of a set screw 15, said collar constituting abearing for the lower end of the hub. A set screw 16 is threaded through the upper end of the hub and isdesigned'to co act with the annular groove 11 to provide an auxiliary means for supporting the hub'and also as a means for locking the same against rotation on the standard. The hub 10 is further provided with an annular boss 17 having radial threaded openings 18 which are adapted to receive the inner threaded extremities 19 of the radial supporting arms 20. porting arms 20 are preferably square in cross section and are provided with aplurality of transverse openings 21. Transverse horizontal supporting clamps 22 are longitudinally adjustable on the supporting arms 20 and the same comprise a lower member 23 having a rectangular depression 24 for the reception of the supporting arm, and an upper member 25. The rectangular depression 24 is provided'with alined aper tures for the reception of a retaining bolt 26 p which is adapted to pass'through any one of the transverse openings 21 in the supporting arm. 28 and 29. The hub 12 constitutes a housing for the upper open end of the standardand shields the same from moisture to prevent the formation of rust or ice which would tendto obstruct the operation of the device.

While there has; been illustrated and described a single and preferred embodiment of the invention, no limitation is necessarily made to the precise details of construction claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. A mail receptacle support comprising a vertical tubular standard, a tubular hub having a'closed upper end adapted to'be telescopically received by the upper end of said standard for rotatably associating the hub therewith and for closing'the upper end of the standard, a plurality of supporting arms extending radially from the hub, means for supporting and securing a plurality of mail receptacles thereon for eifecting permanent longitudinal adjustments of the same,

and means carried by the hub and adapted arms extending radially therefrom, of means for associating a plurality of receptacles with the supporting arms to permit of longitudinal adjustments of the same thereon comprising a pair of strips between Which the bottom of the receptacle is adapted to be arranged, means for clampingsaid strips to the bottom of the receptacle, the lower strip having a medial ofiset portion adapted to receive and embrace the supporting arm, and means ior securlng said lower strip to the supporting arm.
