Description

UNITED STAT-Es PATENT FFICE.
OLEMON BAILEY, OF KINSTON, NORTH CAROLINA, ASSIGNOR TO HIM- SELF AND H. C. BAILEY, OF SAME PLACE.
IMPROVEMENT iN DENTISTS FLASKS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 137,589, dated April 8, 1873; appicaion tiled November 25, 1872.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, @LEMON BAILEY, of Kinston, in the county of Lenoir and State of North Carolina, have invented a new and Improved Dentists Flask, of which the following is a specification:
Figure lis a vertical central section of my improved ask. Fig. 2 is atop view thereof.
Similar letters of reference indicate correspondin g parts.
This invention relates to an improved construction of vulcaniZing-ask, used by dentists for preparing artificial gums, &e., and has for its object to keep the two parts of the ask properly together, and to obviate the necessity of tightening the connection while the flask is in the vnlcanizer, and also to improve the sha-pe and style of the ask. The invention consists in an improvement upony devices which are now in use to contract the parts of a dentists flask when in the vulcanizer, as here inafter fully described and pointed out in the claim.
In the drawing, the letter A represents the bottom, and B the top of the ask. The
flanges or heads a b, respectively, are made of circular form and of equal size. d dare rods or bolts passing through the two flanges, a b, and provided with nuts e c at their upper ends, by means of which nuts and rods the two parts of the liask are rmly drawn together preparatory to the ask being placed in the vulcanizer. O is a semi-elliptic spring, placed on top of the flask, and connecting its ends with bars f f, that project from the bottom of the flask, the said barsbeing secured to the ange e, or to a rod, g, that is placed under the ask, as indicated in the drawing. The ends of the spring O are hooked into the ends of the bars j', to be conveniently detachable therefrom. The spring C bearing on the top of the flask pulls the two parts of the same rmly together, even if the other fastenings d c should, by unequal expansion in heat, fail so to hold the parts together. By this arrangement the tlask, when once put within the vulcanizer, maybe therein retained without interference as long as necessary to complete the process of vulcanizing, and is then withdra-wn and conveniently opened.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The curved spring C, hook-rods ff, and rod g, combined with ask, as described, and for the purpose set forth.
OLEMON BAILEY.
