v DUMPING CAR. 'APPLICATION FILED JULY 5,1917.

KONRAD MLCHER, OF GLEIWITZ, GERMANY.
DUMPING-CAR.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Mai-L 8, 192i( Application filed July 5, 1917. Serial No. 178,860.
To all Quia/)m t may OnCe/m.'
Be it known that l, Komaan Maronnn, a subject of the King of Prussia, German Emperor, and resident oi Teucherstrasse, Glei- Upper Siiesia, Germany, have invented new and useful Improvements in Bumping-Cars, of which the following is a speciiication.
ln Sonie classes of railway cars the bottom consists oi central, longitudinal, lined portion and two side parts hinged to the said central n m and capable oi being thrown baci; to Ameer Their outer above t thus vform inclined surfaces over which the contents oi the car may sli le out oi same and 'fall down at both sides of the trank.
According to the pr upper iiange oi tile gir sent invention the p ers is attached to the lined section of the Car bottoni and the web extenos slantingly outwardly, the lower flange extending substantially horizontally outwardly, so that, when the movable par ot the bottom are opened upwardly, the webs oi the girdere forni a prolongation oi the slanting surface of the upturned bottom parte along which the contents of the car slide out on to the rails. The web may also fe curved in cross section. One advantage le construction, is that the bottoni of the unt or track. r may be rolled or they may be the parte may be riveted totiroughout tle several views z jeigure l is a vertical longitudinal section car irnilar ection tl rou through the s pai s sine drawn on an enlarge-l scale,
ed more closely over theV Figs. 3 and l are similar part sections el inodiiied forms oi' the invention.
The fixed part o of the car bottom is supported on the upper flange or" the longitudinally disposed girders a., the webs of which are slanted outwardly. The angle iornied' between the web and the lowe [lange @may be filled out with wood or other suitable material as at l to 'form one continuous sliding surface for the car load, when the bottom door has been thrown back. The inclined surface may be prolonged by means of an outwardly downwardly inclined plate f.
is illustrated at Fig. l a girder of E:- sliaped cross-section may be employed, the web o slanting outwardly.
l claim as my invention i. in a dumping car the combination oi a longitudinal fixed bottom portion and lateral movable portions hinged to the said portion, girders mounted substantially at the edges ot said `fixed portion and having their webs slanting downwardly and outwardly, the angle between the lower llange and the web being filled out to iorni un interrupted inclined. plane with the web.
2. in a dumping car the combination et a longitudinal fixed bottoni portion and latmove-.bln portions hinged to the said eral iixed portion, girders mounted substantially at the edges of said fixed portion and hai?- ing their webs slanting downwardly and outwardly, the angle between the lower iiange and the web being JFilled out to `form an uninterinptedv inclined plane with the web, and an outwardly inclined plate attached to the lower flange oi' the girder to form a continuation of a sliding surface.
ln testimony whereof l have ailixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses. KGNRA llliliCHlll. lvlitnesses LOUIS KATZ, LOTTE LEWIN.
