3 indicates the spool box, the music spool of which is mounted upon the axes or bearings in the side walls. 6 -7 thereof in the usual manner. 8 indicates the usual take-up spool, 9the music sheet, and 10 the tracker bar. 11 indicates part of the pneumatic by which the position of the music spool is shifted when certain well known types of automatic tracking devices are used in connection therewith;
12 indicates the shaft upon which the hearing or axis 5 of the music spool 13 is mounted and bears against the U-shaped member 14 secured upon the shaft 15by the screw 16, said shaft 15 being free to revolve in the angle brackets 17--18 secured to the U-shaped bracket 19, which in turn is suitably securedto the side wall .7 of the music I roll box. The back end ofthe U-shaped member 14, it will be observed, is pivotally connected to the rod 20 the opposite end of which is pivotally connected tothe lever 21 which is pivotally mounted upon the. angle bracket 22 suitably secured to the other Wall '6 of the music roll box, and at the lower end of the lever 21, it will be observed, is pivotally mounted the rod 23 pivotally connected at 24 to' the movable wallof the pneu-- matic 11.
The usual spring bearing is provided at the left end of the music roll support 4 serving to shift the roll rightwardly, thus causing the right hand end of the shaft 12 at all times to bear against the forward end of the U-shaped, member 14 tending to shift the Specification of Letters Patent.

As the automatic tracker valve mechanism forms no part of this invention, and is well known in the art, and as the same applies to the resilient hearing at the left side of the music roll13, no particular forms of such devices have been shown, and the particular novel features of these improvements are embodied more particularly in the spool shifting mechanism more particularly shown in connection with the shaft 12.
Of course it will be understood that various modifications may be made in the construction and arrangement of parts without departing from the spirit of the invention as claimed.
We claim:
1. In a roll shifting mechanism, a roll mounted upon a movable shaft, a pneumatic and lever connections therefrom to one end of said shaft, a channel shaped pivotally mounted lever having one free end pivotally connected to said lever connection and the other end engaging said end of said shaft.
2. In a roll shifting mechanism, a roll mounted upon a movable shaft, a pneumatic and lever connections therefrom to one end. of said shaft, a channel shaped pivotally mounted lever having one free end pivotally connected to said lever connection and the other end engaging said end of said shaft, and a U-shaped bracket for supporting said channel shaped lever.
