FOLDABLE BED-SPRING.
To all whom 'may concern Be it known that I, STANIsLovAs .MoLIs,
a citizen of Lithuania, residing at Racine,
- bed-spring.
county of Racine, and State of l/Visconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Foldable Bed-Springs, of
stead by asingle person without incon-l venience.
The invention is fully disclosed in theY following specication, of which the accompanying drawing forms a part inwhich- Figure 1 is a Fig. 2 is a side view thereof, and Y Fig. 3 is a side view of the bed-spring in position in a bed-stead.
Referring to the figures of the drawing,V
like numerals of reference designate similar parts in the several Views. 1 y
The bed-spring 10is composed of three parts 11, 12 and 13, each of which comprises two longitudinal side bars 14 connected by a plurality, for Vinstance as shown, three strong, straight wires 15, while the free ends of a pair of bars 1411 are connected by strong zig-zag wires 16.
'A plurality of strong, straight wires 17 for instance, as shown four, Yare uniformly spaced from Veach other andrectangularly disposed'to the wires 15 and connect the wires 16 of each section At the points of intersection between th wires 15 and 17 coiled or spiral springs 18 which are supported bythe usual slats'are arranged, as is customary with bed-springs.
Each of the sections 11, 12 and 13 is provided at the inner ends of their respective bars 14 with a socket 19 for the reception of Speccaton of `Letters Patent.
plan view of my improved` a pin 20 of a connecting link 21,the other pin of which is adapted to engage the socket 19 of the next adjoining section.
lt will be clear that the central section 12 must be provided with sockets 19 at the iiiner as well as the outer end of its bars-14.
Patented Mar;Y 1,- 1921. i Application sied June 15, i920. serial No. 389,114. v
From the foregoing description it will be.,
clear that a bed-spring 10 constructed ac'- cording to my invention can easily be placed intoa bed-stead 22 by a single person without inconvenience, by first placing section 1v1 into the bed-stead frame so that the ends of its bars 14: which are connected by springs 16 .rest upon the foot part of the frame. v
l-lereafter the next section 12 is placed into the bed to engage the section 11 andl the pins 20 of the links 21 are introduced into the .respective sockets 19 to combine both sections, hereafter the section 13 is placed into the bed-stead and connectedto section 12 in a similar manner.
it" isevident that the .bed-spring will .l readily yield pressure from any direction,.-v and therefore be very comfortable toanf occupant, and will receive a mattress and support it perfectly. The i links, though 'shown as'rectangular Vmay be U-shaped or" l of other forms.
' The complete device is simple and cheaply and easily constructed.V i V What l claim and desire tosecure by Letters Fatentv of the United States is 'as follows- 1 Y A bed-spring composed of three sections, each comprising a' pair of frame bars provided with sockets, a pair of zig-zag vwire springs connecting the corresponding-free ends of said bars, a plurality rectangularly intersecting strong straight Ywire springsV connected withtlieir ends to saidl bars and said zie-zag wires respectively,
Vcoi-led wire spriiigsat thepoints of intersection between each' two of said sets-of sti-ongV straight wire springs andv links each provided withtwo pins for enga,g ,i ng` with one pin the-socket of'one and with the other the socket of YtheneXt `adioiningsection for connecting two of Vsaid sections. i
VIn testimony whereof I have aiiiXed my signature. Y lSTANISLOVAS11101218.
