GAVIN RITCHIE, JR., 0F BATTLE CREEK, MICHIGAN.
T 0 all w 710m t may' conce/ru l Be it known that-I, `Gravin RrrcHin, Jr.,A
a citizenol the United States, `residing Battle Creek, county ot Calhoun, State ot Michigan, have invented 4certain new and uselul Improvements in Supports for Cen `\"feyer-Tracks, "of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in supports for conveyer tracks.
The main object of this invention is to provide an improved support tor conveyer tracks which may be adjusted to meet the particular requirements er conditions of a particular installation. Y
A further ebject is to provide an improved support for conveyer tracks which permits the use of sections of pipe such as water or gas pipe, which is usually to be had and may be cut the desired lengths required for the particular installation..
Further objects and objects relating to structural details, will definitely appear from the detailed description to follow.
I accomplish the objects oli my invention by the devices and means described in the following specification. The invention is clearly defined and pointed out in the claims.
A structure which is a preferred embodiment of my invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawing, forming a part et this specification, in which:
Figure I is a detail side elevation a section of track embodying the `Features ci? my invention.
Fig. II is a detail plan view.
Fig. III is a detail horizontal section on a line ccrresponding to line 3-3 et Fig. IV.
Fig. IV is a detail vertical section 0n a line corresponding to line wel et Figs. II and III.
Fig. V is a detail horizontal section on a line corresponding to line 5-5 of Fig. I.
Fig. VI is a detail side elevation ot' an embodiment of my invention mounted upon or suspended from a ceiling.
In the drawing similar reference characters refer tc similar parts throughout the sev eral views, and the sectional views are taken looking in the direction of the little arrows at the ends of the section line.
Referring to the drawings, 1 represents the track to be supported. lis the details 0lthis form no part of my invention they are not illustrated herein. I provide socket members 2 having sockets 3 therein adapted SUPPORT FOB CONVEYER-TRACKS.
' Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented nel). 1, `1921.
' Applicatin led November 1, 1920. Serial No. I421,160.
to receive the tubular uprights/l` which are preferably sections of water or gas pipe.
The uprights are secured in the sockets by means ol. the set screws 5. The track 1 is mounted on cross pieces 6 by means of hangers 7. The ends of these cross-pieces are disposed in bores 8 et the brackets 9, the brackets having vertical bores 10 to receive the uprights. The cross-pieces are secured to the brackets by means ofthe set screws l1, while the brackets are adjustably secured upon the uprights by the set screws 12.
The'uprights are braced 'by means ofthe braces 13,14 and 15. `These braces are secured to the uprights by means of collars 16 having seats 17 adapted to receive the flattened ends 18 of the braces, the flattened Y ends 18 being secured to these seats by means cii machine screws 19. The collars are adjustably secured on the uprights by means of the set screws 20.
In the structure illustrated the brace 1B extends from one upright to another. The brace 15 may be attached to a wall er other part of the building, not here illustrated. The brace 14 is attached to one of the socket members 2, a. screw 2l being arranged in the hole provided for the set screw 5, when the socket members receive the uprights.
The uprights are also used as supports for the arms 22 which may be used as supports,
`or articles may be hung thereen. These arms are carried by collars 23 adjustably secured upon the uprights by means ot set screws 12.
In Fig. VI, I illustrate an installation of my improvements in which the parts are a conveyer track supporting means which,
may be shipped in the knockdown, or the brackets and collars only .need be supplied to the user, the uprights and braces being usually available in the form of gas or water pipe, as stated.
I have not illustrated the various adaptations and adjustments which are possible as I believe the disclosure made will enable those skilled in the art to which my invention relatesl to embody or adapt the same as may be desired. Y
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to'secure by Letters Patent, is:
1. In'a structure of the class described, the combination with the track, of a support therefor comprising socket members, tubular uprights disposed in said socket members'and retained therein by set screws, said `uprights being arranged in pairs, cross pieces provided with hangers for said track, supporting brackets for said cross pieces sleeved upon said uprights and having bores receiving `the ends of said cross pieces, said ,brackets being provided with set screws for securing the brackets to the uprights and securing the cross pieces thereto, collars adjustably secured on said uprights by means ofset screws, said collars having seats on one side-thereof adapted to receive braces, tubular braces having flattened ends disposed on said seats, and machine screws for securing said braces to said collars.
2. In a structure of the class described, the combination with the track, of a support therefor comprising socket members, tubular uprights disposed in said socket members, said uprights being arranged in pairs, cross pieces provided with hangers for said track, supporting brackets for said cross pieces sleeved upon said uprights and having bores receiving the ends of said cross pieces, said brackets being provided with set screws for securing the brackets to the uprights and securing the cross pieces thereto, collars adjustably secured on saidy uprights by means of set screws, and braces secured to said collars.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal in the presence of two wit-
