SKIRT-HOLDER.
Application filed May 22,
[cull flo/tom t 'may concern.'
l'e 1t known that I7 AMANDA En, a citizen of the United States, residing at Gwinner, 1n.
the county of Sargent and State of North Dakota, have invented new and useful Improvements in Skirt-Holders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention is an improved skirt holder to enable a single belt to be used for any number of skirts and to hold a skirt in place and relieve strain on the waist band of the skirt, the object of my invention being to provide an improved device of this character which is simple in construction and which can be readily removed from one skirt and attached to another.
The invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of devices hereinafter described and claimed.
In the accompanying, drawings Figure l is a perspective view of a skirt holder constructed and arranged in accordance with my invention, and showing the same applied to a skirt.
Fig. 2 is a detailed elevation of the same. Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional view of the same.
In the embodiment of my invention I provide a plate l which may be of the form here shown or of any other suitable form, and which is adapted to be arranged on the inner side of a skirt, at the waist band. The plate is provided near its ends with spaced openings 2 through which a belt 3 passes. By reason of such construction and belt threading arrangement, the plate may be made to more perfectly conform throughout its length to the shape assumed by thev belt when the latter is drawn about the Waist and adjusted in position because such a provision of belt connection with the plate maintains the plate ends inktrue adjustment with the Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented J an. 11, 1921.

garment and belt to obviate the wear or injury to the garment or skirt which would otherwise be due to unconned plate ends. The belt is provided with suitable fastening means at the ends, here shown as a hook 4 and a ring 5 but any suitable fastening means may be employed for the belt and to enable the same to be tightened or loosened as may be desired.
Attaching devices 6 are also provided for the plate and which are to be sewed to the waist band of the skirt. The plate is detachable from the fastening devices and hence maybe removed from the skirt and employed in another, at will, each skirt with which the holder is to be used being provided with the fastening devices. The fastening devices are here shown as metal tabs to hook over the plate. The plate and the attaching devices are preferably made of aluminum but may be made of any suitable material.
Having thus described my invention, I claim z A skirt support comprising a longitudinally curved elongated metallic plate having its end portions provided with pairs of spacedl transversely extending slots7 a belt slidably extending through said slots and flatly contacting with the outer side of said elongated plate, said elongated plate being of a greater width than the width of said belt for presenting a relatively wide bearing surface to the body of the wearer, and a plurality of spaced fastening devices overhanging said elongated plate and detachably engaged with the inner side of the same, said spaced fastening devices being secured to a garment and movable with relation to said elongated plate.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
