In the illustrated form of my invention, one of the pressing elements 1, 2, and as here shown, the lower pressing element or buck 2 is formed with aconvex upper face and the intermediate p'ressin element is formed with a concave lower ace conforming to the convex face of the lowerbuck 2; the upper face .of the intermediate element 3 is formed flat to coact with the flat lower face of the upper pressing element or buck 1; and the element 3 is supported on either the upper face of the lower'buck 2 or contiguous to the lower face of the upper buck3.
Means is provided for connecting the intermediate element 3 to the upper pressing element or buck 1 whereby said intermediate element moves as-a unit with the upper pressing element or buck 1.
In the illustrated form of my invention the intermediate element 3 is supported by arnts 27 mounted on the pivots 10 o the lever 9 which supports thexlllilpper buck 1, and means is provided for c necting the arm 27 to and disconnecting thesame from the lever 9.
This means may be of any suitable form,
size and construction and in the illustrated form of my invention, it includes a lock 28 mounted upon a vertical pivot 29' carried .by the rear arm of the lever 9 and movable over the rear arm or yoke 30 of the supporting lever or arm 27 for the intermediate pressing element 3.
' The lock 28 is moved into and out of oper-- ative position by means of a handle 30 mounted on the top of the upper pressing element or buck 1 and a rod 31 connecting the handle 30 to an arm .32 mounted on the upper end of the pivot 29. The handle 30 is usually mounted upon the pivot 33 connecting the front arms 8 of .the lever 9 and the upper pressing head or buck 1. The rear ends of the arms 27 the oke 30 located withir the bifurcations of t e lever 9'and the lock 29 is carried by the lever 9 in position to coact or pass over the intermediate part of the yoke.
A suitable counterbalancing spriiig 35 is connected to the rear arm or yoke of the lever 27 and to the frame or rear leg 7 thereof.
Steam passes. from the source of supply through the pressing elements 1, 2, 3, and in the illustrated embodiment of my invention the steam passes in at 36 through the conduit 37 arranged in axial alinement with the pivots 10 through one pivot 10 which is hollow, thence through the passage 38 into the steam chamber 3 of the intermediate pressare connected by ing element, thence out through the passage 39 in the other bifurcation of the arm 27 outwardly through the other hollow pivot 10 to the outlet pipe +10.
The steam also circulates from the pipe 37 to the pipe 40 through the upper buck or pressing head 1 through inlet and outlet pipes 41, 42, the pipes 37 and 40 having suitable joints or couplings 43, 44 therein to which the pipes 41, 42 'are connected respectively. 1

In operation, upon movement of the hamdle 51 in one direction. the lever 47 is operated to open the valve 49 and hence permit steam to pass through the upper. face of the intermediate pressing element 3 when the same is lying on the lower buck 2 and is disconnected from the upper buck 1.
Upon movement ofthe handle 51Qin'the other direction, the valve 46 is opened and permits steam to pass through the passage 20 and through the chamber 22 in the lower side of the intermediate element 3 and pass steam between the lower buck 1 and the intermediate element 3; the lock 29 being now operated to connect the intermediate element 3 to the upper buck 1 so that parts 1 and 3 act as a unit.
The pressing elements may be provided with a suitable padding '52 indicated in dotted lines, Fig. 3.
By my invention, the portions of the garment requiring flat pressing and curved pressing can be done on one machine and the machine, readily changed, at will to perform either operation.
What I claim is:
1. A garment pressing machine comprising upper and lower pressing elements, the upper pressing element being movable toward and from the. lower, an intermediate heated pressing element, movable supports for the upper and intermediate pressing elements, means for connectin and disconnect ing the upper and intermediate pressing elements together whereby they move as a unit,
' means for actuating the support of the upper pressing element and thereby actuating the intermediate pressing element when the same is'connected by the former means to the upper pressing element, substantially-as and for the purpose described.
2. A garment pressing machine comprising upper and lower pressing elements, the upper pressing element being movable toward and from the lower, one 'of said pressing elements being formed with a fiat face and the other with a convex face; an intermediate pressing element supportable on the face of the lower pressing element or against the face of the upper pressing. element, the intermediate element having a concave face on one side conforming to the convex face of one of the former pressingelements and a fiat face on the opposite side thereof conforming to the fiat face of the other of the former pressing elements, and means for connecting the intermediate element to and disconnecting the same from the upper pressing element, substantially as and forthe purpose specified.
3. A garment pressing machine com-prising a lower buck having a convex face, an upper buck movable toward and from the lower buck and having a flat face, an intermediate pressing element between the bucks and having a concave lower face conforming to the convex face of the lower buck and a flat upper face conforming to the Hat face of the upper buck, and means for connecting 1 said element to and disconnecting the same from the upper buck, substantially asand for the purpose set forth.
4;. A pressing machine comprising upper and lower pressing elements having lnternal heating chambers therein and an intermediate pressing element having an internal heating chamber therein, the intermediate elelower pressing element or against the face of the upper pressing element, and means 'ment being supportable on the face of the for connecting anddisconnecting the intering fluid, and perforations in the upper and lower faces thereof, one passage communicating with the perforations in the upper face of the intermediate element, and the other passage with the perforations in the bottom face of said element, and means for controlling the flow of the heated medium through the passages, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
6. A pressing machine comprising upper and lower pressing elements, the upper pressing element being movable toward and from the lower, an intermediate pressing element supportable on the face of the lower pressing element or against the face of the upper pressing element means for connecting the intermediate element to and disconnecting the same from the upper pressing element, the intermediate pressing element having an internal chaniber for a heated fluid, and chambers located on the top and bottom sides of the intermediate element, and having perforated top and bottom walls respectively, a passage communicating with the top chamber, a passage communicating with the bottom chamber, and means for controlling the flow of the fluid selectively through the passages, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
7. A pressing machine comprising upper and lowerbucks, the lower buck being formed with a convex upper face and the upper buck with a fiat lower face, an intermediate pressing element supportable on the upper face of the lower buck, or against the lower face of the upper buck, said element having a concave lower face conforming to the convex face of the lower buck and a flat upper face complemental to the flat lower face) of the upper buck, the intermediate pressing elemen having perforated faces on upperand lower sides thereof and internal tions of said faces respectively, means for connecting said element to and disconnecting the same from the upper pressing element, and means for controlling the flow of a heating mediumjhrough said passages, substantially as and for the purpose described.
8. A garment pressing machine comprising upper and lower bucks, the upper buck being movable toward and from the lower buck, a pivoted lever carrying the upper buck, an intermediate pressing element located between the bucks, a lever mounted on the axis of the former lever and carrying the intermediate pressing element and means for connecting and disconnecting said levers togetherfwhereby they move as a unit, js iugstantially as and for the purpose speci- 9. In a garment pressing machine, upper and lower bucks, an intermediate pressing element formed with aninternal passage for a heating medium and also with passages on upper and lower sides thereof, perthe chambers having the perforated sides,
and means for connecting the pressing element to and disconnecting the same from the upper buck, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
10. A pressing machine comprising upper and lower bucks, an intermediate pressing element between the bucks, formed with a perforated plate on one side thereof and an internal chamber communicating with the perforations 0f the plate, means for conducting a heating medium to said chamber, and means for connecting the intermediate pressing element and disconnecting the same from the upper buck, substantially as and for the purpose described.
