IMPROVEMENTlN COMPOUNDS FOR DESTROYING INSECTS. VERMIN. 8m.
Specification forming fart of Lciters Patent No. 136,185, dated February 25, 1873.
To all 'whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWIN B. SEARS, of the city and county of San Francisco, State of California, have invented or discovered an Improved Compound for the Extermination of Fleas,Moths, &c.; and I do hereby declare that the ingredients used and the manner of mixing or compounding them to make the said exterminator, together with the manner of using the same, are describedin the following specification To accomplish my object and manufacture one pint of my exterminator, I take two-thirds of a pint, or nine (9) fluid ounces of alco hol, and one-third of a pint, or three fluid ounces of the oil of Wormwood. To this I add one-half (1}) grain of gum camphor, and one Directions for Using.
For the extermination of moths, one or two drops placed upon some cotton and deposited in a trunk or drawer, or wherever they exist, will have the desired eifect. In order to check the destruction of carpets by moths, from one to six (6) drops of the liquid should be sprinkled upon .the carpet of an ordinarysized In the extermination of fleas I employ; from three (3) to five (5) drops of the liquid placed upon a small piece of muslin and deposited between the mattress and sheet of a bed which will be found very effective.
