Lighter Tips, of which the following is a specification.
This invention aims to produce an improved electric cigar lighter tip which will be simple in construction and inexpensive to lt-further seeks to perfect a deused, and to this end proper insulationand anefiective guard for the heating element are installed. 7 t is a further obgect to construct a device which will satisfactorily withstand long and continued use.
With the above and other objects in View, 7
the invention comprises the construction and arrangement of parts as will now be described and hereinafter specifically claimed.
' its center for the insertion of the end of the .guard to the circular portion.
the outer insulating disk and the circular guard 1s a ring 1 having perforations at diametrically opposite sides thereof, through which are inserted the ends of a core or insulating material 18. On the core and adja' cent the ring are two insulating washers 19.
A wire 20, extending from the center contact, passes through a perforation in the inner insulating disk at or near its center, as shown at 21, thence it extends between the spaced apart insulating disks as shown at 22, thence it passes through a perforation in the outer portion of the outer disk, as shown at 23, and thence it is spirally wound on the insulating core for approximately the dis- Specification of Letters Patent.

tance between the insulating washers, thus forming a resistance 0011 as shown at 24:.
The wire then passes back through the opposite outer portion of the outer insulating disk, as shown at25, between the disks for a short distance toward their centers, as shown at 26, through the inner disk, as shown at 27, and thence it is attached to the screw plug, as shown at 28. The resistance coil, which is the heating element of the device, becomes white hot when the electric current is applied, by reason of the resist ance which it affords.
The guard is an efiectual protection against accidental burning by the heating element. The resistance coil has contact with insulating members only, that is, with the insulating core and the insulating washers. The wire is insulated from the screw plug by the insulating button and the insulating disks.
The insulating core may be made of porcelain or other suitable material. Porcelain will withstand a great amount of heat for long periods without losing its shape.
li hat I claim is:
1. An electric cigar lighter tip, comprising a wire having a resistance coil, an insulating core by which the coil is carried,
perforated ring carrying said core, a guard, a screw plug by whlch the lighter tip is carried, insulating washers on said core and interposed between said ring and coil, and
perforated insulating disks interposed between said coil and screw plug, whereby said wire may pass through said disks to form the contacts of the screw plug.
2. An electric cigar lighter tip, comprising an insulating core, a wire having a resistance coil on said core, a guard, a screw plug by which the lighter tip is carried, insulating washers protecting said coil from said guard, and two spaced apart, perforated insulating disks protecting said coil from said screw plug, and the ends of said wire passing through perforations in outer portions of the outer of said disks, thence between said disks and toward each other for short distances, thence through spaced apart perforations in the inner of said disks, and thence to the screw plug, one end of said wire forming the center contact and 'the other end constituting the side contact of said screw plug.
8. An electric cigar lighter tip, comprisso i ing a wire having a resistance coil, an insulating core by which the coil is carried, a guard for the resistance coil, means for insulating the guard from the coil, a screw plug, and spaced apart insulating disks through which the'wire passes and by which the coil is insulated from the screw plug.
4. An electric cigar lighter tip, comprising an insulating core, a wire having a resistance coil carried thereby, a perforated ring carrying the insulating core, a guard for the resistance coil, washers interposed" between the perforated ring and resistance coil for insulating the guard from the coil, and spaced apart insulating disks through which the wire passes and by which the coil is insulated from a screw plug.
An electric cigar lighter tip, comprising an insulating core, a wire having a resistance coil carried thereby, a perforated ring carrying the insulating core, a guard for the resistance coil, washers interposed between the perforated ring and resistance coil for insulating the guard from the coil, and two spaced apart, perforated insulating disks protecting said coil from a screw plug, said perforated ring interposed between said guard and one of said disks, and the ends of said wire passing through perforations in outer portions of the outer of said disks, thence between said disks and toward each other for short distances, thence through spaced apart perforations in the inner of said disks, and thence to said screw plug.
In testimony whereof I- affix my si nature.
