This invention relates to new and useful improvements in snow plows and has for one of its objects the provision of a device of this character which can be easily and con-' veniently applied to an automobile, truck, or motor vehicle so that roadways can be quickly cleared of snow of considerable depth and which devices can be easily removed when desired and will not interfere with the cranking or starting of the automobile or truck when a lied thereto,

A further object of this invention is the provision of a snow plow of the above stated character, which shall belsimple,. durable and efficient, and which may be'manufactured and sold at a comparatively low cost. With these and other objects in view as y will become more apparent as the description proceeds; the invention consists in cerq tam novel features of 'construct1on,comb1- nation and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.

Referring in detail to the drawingsQthe numeral indicates as. an entirety a snow plow consisting of a mold board .2, the forward edge of which is disposed straight to form a cutting edge 3. Theniold board 2 is provided with an offset portion 4 that is of substant ally V-shape in cross section arid d verges from its forward end in the direct1on of 1ts rear end to form inclined faces15 bordered by marginal flanges 6 so that snow engaged by the'cutting edge 3 is deflected laterally 1n each direction by the inclined faces 5 and set off of the mold board to each side of the roadway by the marginal flanges 6. A palr of supporting rods 14 and 15 are secured to the under face of the mold board 2 and extend beyond the rear edge thereof and are connected. together by a brac 16. The -supporting rod 14 has one end disposed at right angles to form an attaching or Journalmg arm 17 that is-disposed within one end of the sleeve 18. The sleeve 18 is' .secured'to the forward end of a power driven 'arm15 and is heldinalinement. therewith b" a fastening element 25. The fastening elbment 25 may-be-slid OR of the member 15 so; as to permit the arm 22 to be swung on its pivot for disengaging the right angled end thereof from the sleeve 18 whendesirin t disconnect the device from the'vehicle.
From the foregoing description take in connection with the accompanying drawings, 1t will be noted that the plow is supported in an inclined {position forwardly of the motor driven vehicle so that on the plow being shoved forwardly by the vehicle, the
Snow will be cut into strips by the knives and passed onto the mold board,2 whence it is deflected laterally in each direction of the roadway. The rear end of the mold board terminates substantially in a plane with the upper end of the radiator of the motor vehicle so as to permit the device to be used in comparatively deep snow. It will also be noted that the cutting edge 3 of the mold board is supported in spaced relation to the ground so that stones and other obstructions may pass under the cutting edge without affecting the device.
While I have shown and described the referred embodiment of my invention, it will be understood that minor changes in construction, combination, and arrangement of. parts may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
Having thus described my invention, what claim is 1. A snow plow comprising a mold board, supporting members secured to the mold board, a right angled extension formed upon the end of oneof the supportlng members, an arm pivoted to the other supporting member and having a right angled end, a sleeve receiving the right angled ends and secured to a motor vehicle, mean holding the arm against pivotal movement on one of said supporting members; and means supporting the mold board at its forward edge in spaced relation to the ground and adapted to cut snow into strips.
2. A snow plow comprising a body having its forward edge disposed straight to form a cutting edge, said body being curved to form an ffset portion of substantially V-Shape in cross sectlon and having marginal deflectin flange t its sideedges, said V-shaped o set portion diverging from the cutting edge in the direction of the rear edge of said body, means securing the body to a vehicle, and runners secured to said body.
3. A snow plow comprising a body having its forward edge disposed straight to form a cutting edge, said body being curved to form an ofi'set portion of substantially V- shape in cross section and havin marginal deflecting flanges at its side e ges, said V-shaped offset portion diverging from the cutting edge in the direction of the rear edge of said body, means securing the body to a vehicle and spaced strips secured to the offset portion and projecting forwardly of the cutting edge and curved upwardly to form comblned knlves and runners to said body.
