Description

UNITED i STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOHNV LOVE, or oUssETA, TEXAS. T..
IMPROVEMENT IN FLOWS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent N0.135,S29, dated February 11, 1873.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Beit known that I, JOHN LovE, of Cusseta, in the county ofCass and State of Texas, have invented lan Improved Plow-Stock, of which the following is a specification:
The invention consists in the Inode of applying several plow-irons to the same plowframe so that they may be conveniently fast- `ened and adjusted relatively to each other, as
hereinafter described.
Figure lis a side elevation. Fig. 2 is an end view; and Figs. 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 are detail views.
A represents the ordinary wooden frame of a plow-stock, which has the oblique slot a in the beam A. B B are flat curved plates, which are perforated at several points, b, and rigidly attached to beam. C is the scraper; D, the pulverizer; and E, the furrow-opener; eaeh provided with a shank, F, perforated at several points, f. The scraper G is fastened between the plates B B by a bolt passing through the front holes, and is made to reach to or slightly below the surface of the ground, while the pulverizer iis bolted next thereto,
and the furrow-opener in the rear, both with their depths corresponding to the intended depth of furrow.
The scraper C moves the clods and stones off the surface, while the pulverizer lightens up the lower parts of ridge and enables the opener E to make a cleaner furrow.
Gr H are two different forms of scraper; I, a mold-board plow; J, a snbsoiler; K, a coverer; and L, a root-cutter; all these plow-irons being provided with the transversely-perforated shank F to enable them to be easily ap plied to the plow-stock A. Y
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The subsoiler D, pulverizer C, and furrowopener E, provided with long shanks F relatively adjustable through plates B B and long oblique slot of beam A', as and for the purpose set forth.
. JOHN LOVE. Witnesses:
