IMPROVEMENT IN WASH-BOILER ATTACHMENTS.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, RICHARD B. HART, of Salado, in the county of Bell and State of Texas, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Steam Wash- Boiler Attachments, of which the following is a specification:
Figure l is a vertical section of my improved washboiler attachment taken through the line .1: .r,-Fig. 2, and shown as arranged in aboiler. Fig. 2 is a top view of the same. Fig. 3 is a detail section taken through the line y y, Fig. l.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
My invention has for its object to furnish an improved steam washing device, simple in construction, convenient in use, and effective in operation; and it consists in the combination of the inverted shallow funnels provided with perforated vertical rims, the vertical tubes, the horizontal pipe provided with branch pipes, and the perforated flanged false bottom, with each other, to adapt them to be used in an ordinary wash boiler, as herein after more fully described.
A represents an ordinary wash-boiler, which is provided with a cover, B, and about the construction of which there is nothing new. 0 are two shallow funnels, upon the edges of which are formed vertical rims having numerous holes formed in them. The tubes D of the funnels G are made of such a length as to reach about or a little more than half-way to the top of the boiler A. To the upper ends of the tubes D are fitted short tubes E, to the upper ends of which is attached a horizontal pipe, F, in the lower part of each side of which is formed a row of holes, in which are inserted short pipes G, inclining downward, as shown in Fig. 3. H is a false bottom, made of such a size as to fit into the boiler A,
and in which are formed two large holes for the passage of the tubes D'. The bottom H has numerous small holes formed in it for the passage of the water, and around its edges is formed a downwardly-projecting flange, of such a depth that, when its edge is resting upon the bottom of the boiler A, the false bottom H will be just above the bodies of the shallow inverted funnels G, as shown in Fig. 1.
In using the machine, the various parts are arranged as described, and as shown in Fig. 1. The clothes to be washed are arranged loosely upon the false bottom H, around the tubes D E. As the water begins to boil, the hot water and steam are guided by the funnels G into the tubes D E, up which they are forced into the horizontal pipe F, and are projected through the small pipes G upon the clothes. The water passes down through the clothes, carrying the dirt with it, through the holes in the false bottom H, and through the holes in the rims of the funnels 0 back into said fnn nels, and thus the circulation is continued until the clothes are clean.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The combination of the inverted shallow funnels 0 provided with vertical perforated rims,
the tubes D E, the horizontal pipe F, connected with both tubes E and provided with numerous small discharge-pipes G, and the perforated and flanged false bottom H, with each other, substantially asherein' shown and described, to adapt them to be used in connection with an ordinary wash-boiler, as and for the purpose set forth.
