This invention relates, generally, to improvements in that class of implements used more particularly in the household for crushing fruits, and the like; and, the present inventionhas reference, more particularly, to a novel and simply constructed apparatus which is especially adapted for crushing tomatoes and removing the seed therefrom, but which may also, bereadily employed for crushing berries of the various kinds and for removing the seeds or pits therefrom.

The present invention has for its principal object to provide a novel and simply constructed implement or apparatus of the general character hereinafter set forth, which can easily be manipulated for the purposes above stated, which is readily applied to a vessel for the reception of the crushed fruit or pulp; and, furthermore, to provide a fruit-crushing device which can easily be kept clean. l

Other objects of the present invention not at this time more particularly enumerated will be clearly understood from the following description of the present invention.

lVith the various objects of the present invention in View, the said invention consists, primarily, in the novel fruit-crusher and strainer hereinafter set forth; and, the invention consists, furthermore, in the novel arrangements and combinations of the various devices and parts, as well as in the details of the construction of the said parts, all of which will be more the following specification, and then finally embodied in the clauses of the claims which are appended to and which form an essential part of the said specification.

Referring now tothe several figures of the drawings, the reference-character lindicates one form of fruit-crusher "and strainer, made according to and embodying the principles of the'present invention, the same comprising a main, receiving shell consisting of a pair of end- members 2 and 3, and an intermediately disposed member 1-, of semi-circular cross seotion, substair tially as shown in Fig 3 The upper and receiving element thusv provided is preferably bounded the outwardly flaring marginal portions 5, 6, '7 and 8, connected with and extending from the respective members 2, 3 and 1, substantially as illustrated.

The said shaft or rod 17 is also provided upon its portion which is located between the two end- members 2 and 3, with oppositely projecting arms 20 and 21, the respective arms 20 carrying a longitudinally extending bar 22, and the respective arms 21 likewise carrying alongitudinally extending bar 23, the said bar 22 being provided with a plurality of fiat and arc-shaped crushing finger 24, and the bar 23 being provided with a plurality of flat and arcshaped crushing fingers 25. Tie operation of th device for crushing fruits and for extracting the juices therefrom, as well as straining the same, will be readily understood from an inspection of the several figures of the drawings, and any further description of the same is therefore deemed unnecessary.

I claim l. A fruit-crusher and comprising a body anintermediately disposed member of semicircular cross-section, said latter member be ing formed with a multiplicity of openings or perforations, supportingmembers extendinglongitudinally from the ends of said body for resting the same upon a receiving vessel, a shaft extending longitudinally within said body and rotatably mounted in bearing-portions in said end-members,

2. A fruit-crusher and juice-extractor comprising a body having end-members and an intermediately disposed member of semicircular cross-section, said latter member be ing formed with a multiplicity of openings or perforations, supporting members extending longitudinally from the ends of said body for resting the same upon a receiving vessel, a shaft extending longitudinally within said body and rotatably mounted in bearingportions in said end -members, means for rotating said shaft, arms projecting on: opposite sides of said shaft, longitudinaliy extending bars connected with the ends of the respective arms upon each side of the shaft, and a series of arc-shaped flat crushing fingers extending from each bar. said fingers alternating with spaces between them, the arcshaped portions of said fingers being e'ccentrically disposed with relation to the inner arc-shaped surface of'said intermediately disposed member.

3. A fruit-crusher and juice-extractor comprising a body having end-members and an intermediately disposed member, said latter member being formed with a multiplicity of o peningsor perforations, supporting members extending from the ends of said body, and a cross-bar between each pair of supporting members, one of said cross-bars having a shaftreceiving opening, a shaft extending longitudinally within said body and rotatably mounted in bearing-portions in said end-members and having a portion extending into and through the opening in said cross-bar, means for rotating said shaft, and a series of arc shaped fiat crushing fingers connected with and extending from said shaft, said fingers alternating with spaces between them, the arc-shaped portions of said fingers being eccentri'cally disposed with relation to the inner arc-shaped surface of said intermedia-tely disposed member.
