To all whom t may concern Be it known that I, JosnrH E. BUsKo, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Pittsburgh, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have made a new and useful invention in Ladder-Feet, oi` which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to what are known as ladder feet, namely, devices for application to the side bars of ladders to keep them from slipping. It has for its principal objects; the provision or' an improved ladder foot which is of light, cheap construction, and at the same time of such strength that it will not be liable to give way under the strain and rough usage to which devices of this character are subject; the provision of an improved ladder foot which can be easily and cheaply applied to the standard ladder, and the provision of a device in which the prong or anti-creeping device which is subject to the greatest wear of any part of the device may be readily removed and replaced when a new prong is required or when it be- Y comes necessary to resharpen a dull one. Certain embodiments of the invention are illustrated in the accompanying drawings wherein;
Figure l is a vertical section through a ladder Inoot with one of the improved devices applied thereto; Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the device of Fig. l, and Figs. 3 and a are a section and side elevation respectively of modified forms or" end constructions.
Referring to the drawings, l is the end of one of the side bars of a ladder to which the device is applied. The device comprises the U shaped member 2 preferably comprising a wrought metal strap such as ordinary strap iron secured in position by means of the bolts 3 and e which clamp the sides ot the member securely against the opposing sides of the ladder bar l.
.Extending transversely between the sides oi the member 2 is the transverse bar 5, also preferably of strap iron with its ends eX- tended through the sides of the member 2 and riveted as indicated at 6.
Provided in the bar 5 is the socket or peroration 7 which is adapted to receive the upper end of the holding prong 8. This holding prong 8 is mounted in the socket and has its lower pointed end extended through the perforation 9 in the transverse portion of the U member 2. This prong 8 is Specification of Letters Patent.

It will be apparent that the device may be cheaply constructed and is of durable construction. The prong has a two point support, in the socket and at 9, so that it is very securely held and at the same time may be easily removed and replaced. T he ladder bar is held securely due to the bolts clamping the sides in position and to the support of the extreme end of the ladder against the bar 5. @ther advantages will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art.
Fig. 3 illustrates a modiication wherein the cross bar l1 is provided with a socket l2 Aiveted thereto for receiving the prong 13. i cotter lll holds the prong against removal.

it will be apparent that the device is capa-ble or" considerable change in the matter of detail. rlhe parts 2 and 5 are preferably of strap iron but material of a different cross section might be employed, although it is desirable in all cases to employ wrought metal. The Jiorin of socket 7 as illustrated in F ig. l is preferred because of the simplicity end cheapness or the expedient, but other forms may be employed without departing from the invention.
W hat I claim is:
l. in combination in a ladder foot, a U shaped member adapted to fit around the end ol the side bar of a ladder, means for securing the sides of said member to said end of the side bar, a transverse bar secured at its ends to the sides ci the U shaped member, and provided with a socket and a prong secured removably' in said socket with its end extending through the curved portion ot trie U shaped member.
2. in combination in a ladder ioot, a U shape-d member oi strap metal adapted to lit around the end of the side bar oi a ladder, transverse bar secured at its ends to the side bar and provided with a socket, and a prong itting in the socket and projecting through the shaped member.

In combination in a ladder foot, aU shaped member provided adjacent its bent portion with a transverse bar having a socket or recess, a prong tting at its upper end into said socket and projecting through thev transverse part of the U member, and a removable holding member extending through the prongV and adapted to engage said transverse part of the U member to prevent the withdrawal of the prong from said socket.
6. In combination in a ladder foot, a U shaped member provided adjacent Vits bent portion with a transverse bar having a perforation at its central portion, a prong engaging said perforation at its upper end and having stop means to limit the upper movement of the prong, said prong projecting at its other end through the transverse part of the' U member, and a removable holding member extending through the prong and adapted to engage said transverse part of the U member to prevent the withdrawal of the prong from the said perforation.
7. In combination in a ladder foot, a U shaped member provided adjacent its bent portion with a transverse bar, a prong having interiitting engagement with the transverse bar at its upper end and extending at its lower end through the transverse portion of the U member, and a removable holding member extending through the prong and adapted to engage said transverse part of the U member to prevent the withdrawal of the prong from said interlocking engagement with said bar.
8. In combination in a ladder foot, a U shaped member provided adjacent its bent portion with a transverse bar having a perforation, a prong, having its upper end provided with a stop shoulder, fitting into said perforation and having'its lower end extending through the transverse portion of the' U member, and a removable holding member extending through the prong and adapted toengage said transverse part of the U member to prevent the withdrawal of the prong from saidV perforation.
