Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom it may concern Be it known that I WILLIAM OLE- MnN'rs, a citizen of the llnited States, and a resident of Qroville, in the county of Butte and State of California, have invented a trode, but permltting the latter to be dpositioned atany desired angle in accor with the operation to be performed.
. A further object is to provide a device of the character stated which is of simple construction and which is most eflicient in performing the functions for which it is intended.
With these and other objects in view the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, and combinations and arrangements of parts as will be more fully hereinafter described and pointed out in the claims. 5 r

1 represents a head or coupling member which is provided in its inner end with a externally forming an annular recess 5 rethrough the handle 6 and screwed into a recess 2 in which wires 3 of a flexible cable 4 are secured by solder or other approved means. The recessed inner end of the .head or coupling member 1 is reduced in diameter ceiving the end of a tubular handle 6; This handle 6 is preferably of fiber or other suitable non-conductingmaterial and is rigidly secured to the head or couplingmember 1 by means of a countersunk screw 7 projected threa ed socket 8 in the head 1.
The head 1 is preferably of copper or other similar conducting material and is provided in its outer end with a screw threaded recess 9 receiving the threaded end 10 of my improved fork 11. The fork 11 is split longitudinally forming a pair of gripping aws 12 and 13, these jaws being normally together, and the fork composed of spring metal so as to exert a gripping actlon on an electrode 14 when the latter is forced between thejaws 12 and 13.
The jaws l2 and 13 are curved transverselyx and the curvatures of the jaws are r concentric with each other so that when the electrode 14 is positioned between the jaws, the edges of one jaw will engage the electrode and clamp the lattnagamst the intermediate portion of theother jaw. This construction provides a three-point contact between the fork and the electrode and such" a contact not only insures a firm gripping action, but also permits the electrode to be positioned at any desired angle relative to the fork as indicated in Fig 1, and be se-.

Various slight changes may be made in the general form and arrangement of parts described without departing from the invention, and hence I do not limit myself to the precise details set. forth, but consider myself at liberty to make such changes and alterations as fairly fallwithin the spirit and scope of the appended claims.
I claim:
1. An electrode holder, comprising a fork having a pair of jaws projecting longitudinally of the fork,one of said jaws curved transversely and adapted to clamp an electrode against the other jaw, thereby providing a three-point contact between the fork andthe electrode.
2. A device of the character described, comprising a fork split longitudinally and forming a pairiof spring jaws, said spring jaws curved transversely and concentrically.
3. An electrode holder, comprising a fork having a pair of jaws projecting longitudinally of the fork, one of said longitudinally extended single electrode conjaws having a I tacting portion, and the other jaw having a plurality of longitudinally projecting electrode contacting portions.

A device of the character stated, comprising a head or coupling member having recesses in its respective ends, an electric conductor secured in' one of the'recesses, a tubular handle of non-conducting material located around the conductor and secured 10 to the head or coupling member, and afork .removably secured in the other ofsaid recesses in the head or coupling member, said and concentrically, whereby said jaws have a three-point contact withan-electrode when the latter is positioned between them.
