Description

SASH com) DEVICE.
APPLICATION FILED JAN- 29, 1920- 1,352,84=6. Patented Sept. 14, 1920.
INVENTOR Michael Sorg BY ATTORNEY MICHAEL some; or miaiafifioiBQlnnifiA I 1 i snsn-oonniinv'ionf Specificationof Letters Patent.
Application filed January '29, 1920. serial No. 354,836.
'means for fastening the cords to a sash so as to render access thereto easy,'particularly when it is desired to replace a broken cord. It is among the objects of this invention to produce a device of this character which is extremely simple, reliable, easily accessible, does not mar the appearance of the sash, and will allow the readyreplacement of a cord without removing the sash from the window casing.
In carrying the ob ects of my 1nvent1oninto effect, I provide a slot in the edge of the sash and an angularly disposed passageway leading into the .body of the sash where a comparatively large opening is formed, preferably circular. The opening has inserted therein a lining member having an opening registering with the angularly disposed passage and a cover member is provided which is simple to adjust and lies flush with the surface of the window sash. Referring to the accompanying drawings forming a part hereof and in which similar reference characters denote similar parts,
Figure 1, illustrates an elevation of a wlndow with my invention in place, v Fig. 2, a detail of my device, somepart's being shown in section .for clearness,
Fig. 3, an enlarged view of the lining member, and r Fig. 4, shows the covermember in place. The ordinary window sashes 1 and'2 are carried by the window casing 3 and have cords 4 running over pulleys 5 and attached thereto, the other end of the cords beingsecured to weight members 6 within the window casing. In the upper portions-of each of the'sashes is formed a slot 8, the end of which connects by an angularly disposed passage 9 to a circular opening 10 to allow the end 7 of the cord 4 to be fixed tothe sash.
A lining member 11 having an opening 12 which registers with the passage 9 is inserted into opening 10. Ears 13 are pro v I vided and screws 1a inserted in thesame hold the lining member to the sash. Along the outer edge of member'll' is a recess 15 for the reception of a cover member 16 having one or more recesses 17"to enable the same to be removed with the aid, of the fingers. On the inner sides of cover 16 are placed spring fingers 18 having offset p'ortions 19 which clamp the ,cover to the lining memberj v VVh'en it is necessary to "replace. a cord, due to the breaking of the one previously in place, the cover member 16 is removed,
the end of the old cord taken out and a new cord fitted to the'weight 6 and threaded over T pulley 5. The free end thereof is then in-' serted in slot 8 and pushed down through' angular passage 9 into opening 10 where it is tied ina knot, The cover member is then replaced.
Having thus fully describedmy'said insecure by Letters Patent, is
PatentedSept. 14,1920,
