To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, LEO E. EvsLIN, residing at New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Capsules for Antiseptics and the like, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to a capsule for antiseptics and the like, and the object of the invention is to provide a container or capsule such as may be formed of suitable sheet metal and which will permit the fumes of the antiseptic material contained therein to flow freely therefrom.

A further object is to provide a capsule which may be readily opened and closed for faciliting recharging, etc.

Other objects and aims of the invention, more or less specific than those referred to above, will be in part obvious and in part pointed out in the course of the following description of the elements, combinations, arrangements of parts and applications of principles, constituting the invention; and the scope of protection contemplated will be indicated in the appended claim.

In the accompanying drawings which are to be taken as a part of this specification, and in which I have shown merely a preferred form of embodiment of the invention:

Figure 1 is a horizontal sectional view through a capsule constructed in accordance with this invention, and illustrating a quantity of disinfecting material therein, and

Fig. 2 is a top plan view of the capsule shown in Fig. 1, a portion of the structure being illustrated in horizontal section sub stantially upon the plane of line II of Fig. 1.

Referring to the drawings for describing in detail the structure which is illustrated therein, the reference character L indicates the base or body portion of the Y capsule, while the reference character indicates the top or cover part.

The body portion L is formed with a plurality of projections 1 protruding laterally from the side walls '2 thereon at substantially equi-distant .points around its periphery. These projections may be formed in any desired manner, but are preferably formed by being pressed into the material of the body. The cover (fr is formed with an annular flange portion 4: thereon adapted to telescope downwardly over the walls 2 of the body. The lower ed e portion 5 of this flange is preferably of a diameter which is slightly less than the diameter of the circle defined by the outer extremities of the proectlons 1 on the body, so that in applying the cover, the lower edge 5 engages the surfaces 3. Slight pressure upon the cover will cause the edge 5 to spring, or straighten out, between the projections 1 sufliciently to allow the lower edge portion of the flange 1 to pass below the point of greatest protuberance of the projections 1.

Above the lower edge 5 the flange 1 is bulged outwardly to some extent for accommodating the projections 1, the bulge being only sufficient substantially to permit the flange 4 to reassume its ori inal circular form. Sufiicient pressure is still maintained aga nst the projections 1 to hold the cover against undesirable movement relatively to the body. I

The region of greatest bulge in the flange 4 is in a plane such that when" the projections 1 rest therein, the top wall 6 of the cover is spaced somewhat above the upper edge 7 of the body, substantially cated in the drawings, thus leaving a free passageway, as 8, between the upper edge of the body and the inner surface of the wall 6. The flange 4 is also of such size as to leave an open space, as9, between the inner surface thereof and the outer surface of the wall 2 'of the body at the localities between the projections 1. The fumes from the disinfecting material, as H, within the body may thus pass freely through the passa eway 89 and outwardly from the capsu e at all times.

If desired, a plurality of apertures, as 10, may be provided in the flange 4 for facilitating a better circulation of air. The openings 10 may be duplicated at any other points as desired, but usually they are not required. A container, or capsule, constructed as above described, may be made of any size from a quarter of an inch or less in diameter, to the size illustrated in the drawings, or even larger, with equal effectiveness in all instances. Having thus described my invention; what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. A capsule of the class described-having a passageway therein providing for the' egress of fumes therefrom, means whereby the capsulemay be opened, and said .ieans being of a character such that the opening of the capsule separates the parts forming said passageway for the purpose set forth.

2. A capsule comprising a body part and a cover part, and means interengaging between the body part and the cover part roviding a passageway for the passage 0 air throu h the capsule 3. K capsule comprising a body part and capsule comprising a body part and a cover part, the cover part having a'flange thereon telescoping the body part, the body part having a plurality of projections formed thereon for engaging the flange of the cover part'to retain said flange spaced from the body part intermediate said projections to thereby provide a plurality of passageways for thepassage of air through the capsule, and said flange being shaped to engage said projections in a manner to retain the cover out of engagement with the upper edge of the body.
