The object of thejinvention is to'edect cerf tain improvements in the construction of talking machines whereby a more faithful re rodirction of the recorded sound is obtained. To this end the machine is so constructed thatl the reproduced sounds are sweeter, more mellow and to a greater extent free of foreign sounds such as is the case withV machines of the construction heretofore commonlyY employed.

Another object of my Jinventionis tp provide a device of the class described having al plurality of compartments, having the sound amplifying means in a compartment above one containing the sound producing device, thus permitting the sound to travel upwardly. 4

Another object of my invention is to provide a phonographic cabinet oi the class described which is simple in construction, that may be manufactured at a small cost and to provide improved amplifying means.

Other objects and advantages to be derived from the use of my improved phonographic cabinet, will appear from the following detailed description and the claims, taken with an inspection of the accompanying drawing, in which:

A turntable 6 is rotatably mounted in the partition 7 separating the compartment 4 from a larger compartment forming a record receiver which may be also used'ior other purposes. Having thus fully described my invention,

what I claim las new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1. A. phonograph cabinet having an open front, a plurality of walls therein and spaced from each other to provide multiple chambers, the intermediate chambers being .in communication with each other and one of the same openingthrough the open front of said cabinet, one of the other chambers also opening through the open front of the rabinet, while the remaining chamber is closed.

2.-A phonograph cabinet comprising ai hollow body having an open front, intermediate and outer spaced walls in the hollow body to provide therein superposed chambers Substantially coextensive with each other, one of said Vchambers constituting a main sound passage, another chamber constituting a resonance compartment, said intermediate vwall having an opening establishing communication between the main passage and said resonance compartment, the main passage opening through the front opening in said body, andthe remaining `chambers forming supplemental sound modifying spaces.
