ROOF-PEAK.
Application filed March 2,
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ORA O. Him-ins, a citizen of the United States, residing at Minne apolis, in the county of Hennepin and State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Root-Peaks, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to peaks for roofs, and the object is to provide a weatherproof hood and securing means at the apex oi: conical and pyramidal shaped roofs such as are used particularly on cylindrical silos. Further objects will be disclosed in the course of the specification. The invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which:
Figure 1 is a top view of the middle portion of a conical roof equipped with my improved hood.
Fig. 2 is a dia-metrical section as seen substantially on the line 22 in Fig. 1.
Referring to the drawing by reference numerals, 3 designates the radial wedge shaped boards with which it is common to construct inclined circular roofs. ()n the peak of the rooi I provide a tight fitting hood l on the top of which is a block 5 through which and through the center of the hood and roof extends a bolt 6 having Specification of Letters Patent.
Serial No. 362,864.
a nut 7 at its lower end. Between the nut 7 and the underside of the roof is clamped a circular block 8. A conical cap 9 covers the block 5 and bolt 6 and is tightly secured by means of rivets 10 or other suitable means to the hood 4.
The construction, use and advantages ol? the device are obvious. IVith the parts in their proper positions and with the nut 7 screwed up tightly, as shown, the peak of the roof is not only made water-tight, but the device also provides simple and easily applied means whereby. all the radial boards of the roof may be secured and held in firm and rigid position.
Having now fully shown and described my invention, what I claim to be new and desire to protect by Letters Patent is:
In combination with a conical roof, a hood adapted to cover the apex thereof, a block positioned over the apex of said hood,
a bolt extending throu h said block, hood and roof, and means at tlie lower end thereof for clamping said roof and hood together, a conical cap adapted to cover said block and have its edge tightly secured to said hood.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
' ORAO. HAYES.
