NON-REEILLABLE BOTTLE.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EMILIO IBARRA Y Sums, a citizen. of the Republic of Cuba, and resident of Habana, Cuba, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Non-Refillable Bottles, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention relates to non-refillable bottles, and its object, briefly stated, is the provision of an improved article of the general character indicated which is so constructed as to precluderefilling of the bottle after its contents have once become exhausted. The invention also resides in the provision of a non-refillable bottle in which edge of the body member and has a portion which overhangs and is spaced from the inner flange on the body member. In addi-' tion to the two parts thus stated, the bottle comprises a third member in the form of a double or two-part valve casing, the lower member of which is formed with an outturned circumferential flange which fits in the space between the two inner flanges, above mentioned, and is held in place thereby. The two parts of this double casing are of frusto-conical shape and are arranged with their small ends in connection, and the upper part receives the ball valve which is prevented from becoming displaced by means of an apertured top with which that part is provided. Owing to the goose-neck formation of the spout member, the outer branch thereof will be disposed to one side of the inner branch which incloses the valve casing, so that access to the valve for the purpose of removing it from its seat and thereby permitting refilling will be prevented.

- .As shown in said drawing, and as previously stated, the bottle comprises two body member 1 and the pouringmember or spout 2 the latter having substantiallythe shape of an inverted goose-neck. The body member 1 is provided at its upper portion with an inner circumferential flange 4 and 1 main parts or members, viz., the cylindrical I with an outer circumferential flange 3, both I 'of which are located close to butare spaced from the upper edge of that member.
The upper member 2 comprises inner and outer branches 5 and 7 the former of which has a lower diameter substantially equal to that of the body member 1, While the outer branch 7 isdisposed at one side of the axis of the inner branch and, hence, of the body member and has a greatly reduced diameter with respect to said inner branch. The outer end of this branch 7 is designed to receive a plug, cork or other closure 8. The inner branch 5 is formed at its free lower edge with an out-turned circumferential flange 6 and with an inner or iii-turned circumferential flange 11. being disposed a slight distance above the former. The outer flange 6 has the same width as the corresponding flange 3 on the body member 1 and rests immediately upon that flange and is suitably secured thereto as by welding, cementing or in some other analogous way. The inner flange 11 rests upon the upper edge of the body member, as clearly shown in Fig. 1, and projects over and in spaced relation to the inner flange 4' on the body member, sothat there is thus defined an annular space or recess between cal seat 15 provided at the junction ofthe two parts of the casing so as to control the passage of the liquid'from the body member of the bottle to the spent The ball is.

is provided at its lower end with an outturned circumferential flange 10 which fits in the space between-the .two inner flanges 11 and 4, suitable packing rings 12;and13 :being interposed between the opposite (faces of the flange lOand the adjacent faces of the flanges 11 and 4, so asto enable the .necesysary tight joints to be obtained. In this 'way the valve casing is securely locked in place, and as it is entirely inclosed by'the relativelyrlarge inner branch 5 of the gooseneck spout, access to the valve for the purpose of removing it from'its seat and thereafter refilling the bottle will be rendered impossible due tothe curvature of the outer branch or arm of-the goose-neck.
'It isto bennderstood that in assembling the parts, ;the valve casing and its valve are positioned upon the inner flange 4 of the body member before the spout member is put inpla'ce, ;the subsequent positioning of the spout ,mem'ber having-the effect of looking thecasing in place as has already been explained. The bottle, as a wholeymay be constructed of any suitable material and may be made indifferent sizes to contain different amountsofliquid.
I claim as my invention: In a non-refillable bottle, the combination of a body member having its upper portion edge of the bodymember and on the firstnamed outer flange, the second-named inner flange having a portion thereofoverlapping and spaced from the first-named inner flange; a valve casing arranged withinthe spout member and having theflform of superposed upper and lower frusto-conical parts provided at thelr )llIlCtlOn with a valve seat; and a=ball valve disposed-within the upper part of said casing and normally occupying said seat, saidupper casing part having a perforated top to permit the passage of liquid therethrough while preventing the displacement ofthe ball valve there from.
