ABe it known that I, Pimm: BARDUGCI, sub- `ct of the King of Italy, and resident of aples, Italy, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Plants for DryingA Materials Arranged on Frames, of which the following isa specification. f' This invention relates to plants for drying materials arranged onframes orother supporting means and hasfor its object to provide an.. arrangement comprising ventilat ing means reciprocating inthe room or chamber along the series of frames on which the material to be dried is arranged, and adapted to produce a uniform air circulation betweerr said frames and in' the longitudinal direction with regard to the series of said frames by generating air streams th'eintensity of which changes in a lcontinuous manner from a mlnlmum to a maxlmum and p vice-versa; further the direction of said. air
streams may be periodically reversed.

As shown in Figs. 1 to 3, in the room l,
" which may be a chamber, Colfer, casing or the like, a number of frames 2 are arranged 1n one or two longltudinal series, said frames being superposed to each other and adapted to receive the materialv to be dried.
On the licor, in the `space between the two series'of frames`2 or, generally, along one of said series, is placed a track 3, 'on which runs the Ventilating apparatus 4,V provided paratus 4, by means of a reversing lever cooperating with the members 13 and 14 se v cured to the end walls of the room or casing.

The same result may be attained by causing the openings 10 and 11 to operate as exhaust 4ones and the openings 10 and 11 as inlet ones or vice-versa, or further by using a4 single one of the openings 10, 10 andone o f openings 11, 11 one of the two above mentioned openings operating in this case as in'- 4 y let opening and the other as exhaust one.
The rotation of the fans 9 and thence the direction of air streams may be periodically reversed, by way of example, bymeans of the same lever 7 coperating with the fixed members 13 and 14 in the manner above stated.
lIn anycase, in a plant according tothis linvention a very strong air circulation is effected between the several frame ranges` and the air streams are utilized in Vtheir whole length.`
Further, as said streams have diverging directions, the material arranged on the frames is uniformly ventilated, also near thesides of said frames. The various portions of the roomV or chamber in which` the frames are arranged are vacted on by air streams in a thoroughly uniform manner, as the Ventilating apparatus 4, owing to' its continuous reciprocation in the chamber,

Finally the material is subjected to airv streams the intensity of which changes 1n acontinuous lmanner from a minimum to a maximum and vice-versa, and therefore the temperature is different in the various zones of the room or chamber, as in any given zone the temperature is higher when the Ventilating apparatus is removed from the same and lower when said apparatus is near.
The plant is finally provided with eX- hausters 12 for discharging the ambient air.
VVnat I claim as my invention and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent is:
1. Apparatus for drying materials in drying room, comprising, a plurality of supporting means arranged longitudinally in the room, and a Ventilating device reciproeating along said supporting means and embodying a casing having openings in its Walls facing said supporting means and ventilating means inside said casing.
2. Apparatus for drying materials in a drying room, comprising a plurality of supporting means arranged longitudinally in the room, and a Ventilating device reciproeating along said supporting means, and embodying a casing provided with mouths in its walls facing said supporting means and Ventilating means inside said casing, said mouths being inclined in diverging directions with respect to the path of said casing, and said Ventilating means producing simultaneously draft air streams and blast A su porting meansn ignedat Naples, Italy,v this 25th day of Febry.7 A.
