PATENT OFFlCE.
HARRY M. TROUT, OF HAMILTON, OHIO.
HUG-HOLDING DEVICE.
vApplication led February 10, 1920.
To all 'whom z't may concern:
Be it known that l, HARRY M. TnoU'r, a citizen of the United States, residing at Hamilton, in the county of .Butler and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in l-log-.l'lolding Devices, of which the following is a specification.
This invention comprises a device for catching and holding` hogs, and the object thereof is to provide a. simple, effective and inexpensive device for such purpose, as hereinafter more fully described, in connection with the accompanying drawings.
Referring to said drawings in general terms, Figure l is a longitudinal elevation of the device and Fig. 2 is a similar elevation looking at a right angle to Fig. l.
The body portion -1- of the instrument consists of an iron rod with eyes 2 and 3* formed on the ends thereof, the eye -3- being the larger of the two to enable the lingers to engage the same to manipulate the device.
A sheath or keeper 4- is attached to rod 4land serves to guide and to hold a wire cable m5- in proper position relative to the rod -l--.
The wire cable -5- has one end secured to the eye --2- and the other end of said cable is passed along the rod, through the keeper *an and large eye -3-, and is secured to a handle or grip piece -6-. A
Specification of Letters Patent.

ring 7- is linked to thesmall eye Q- and through this ring -T, the cable -5- is also passed. By means of said ring T a loop -8- is formed in the wire cable,
which is small or large according to the tension or slack the cable is under in manipulating the instrument. u
In catching and holding a hog, the loop -S- is made large enough, by slacking the cable, to place the same over the snout of the animal at which time the cable is drawn upon by the handle 6 until the loop firmly binds the animals snout. lVhen this is being done, one hand grasps the eye -3 while the other hand manipulates or draws the cable, the hog may then be firmly held.
Having described my invention, I claim:
A device of the character specified; comprising a rod having eyes formed in the ends thereof, a wire cable having one end secured to one of said eyes; a ring linked to said eye and through which the cable is passed to form a loop, a keeper secured to said rod and through which said cable passes along said rod and through the eye in the end of said rod opposite the eye to which the end of the cable is attached, and a hand grip fastened to the free end of said cable, substantially described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
HARRY M. TROUT.
