Similar letters indicate corresponding parts. rIhis invention consists in a washbasin which is made in an oblong form and provided with a raised seat, formed by a flange which projects over the edges ofthe basin on the inside and outside, said raised seat being intended to enable a person to rest his body conveniently while washing the legs and the lower portions of the body, and the object of the flange being to produce a broad surface for the seat, and to prevent the Water from being spilled. 0n the side of my basin is a pocket for soap, and the top or cover is hollow, forming a receptacle for brushes, pumps, and other utensils employed in the operation of Washing.
In the drawing, the letter A designates a wash-basin, which is made'in an oblong form, as shown in Fig. 2. The rim B of one-half of my basin is raised above the other half, and
it forms a support for the body during the operation of washing. Said raised rim is provided with a iiange, a, projecting over the inside to prevent the contents of the basin from being splashed out during the operation of washing, and said iiange also projects over the outside of the rim so as to increase its width and to produce a convenient sea-t. On the side of the basin A, either inside or out side, is applied a pocket, C, for soap, and in the top of my basin is fitted a cover, D, which is hollow, forming a receptacle, E, for brushes, pumps, and other articles used in washing the lower portions of the body.
My basin can be constructed of sheet metal, or of any other, suitable material, and, on account oi' its oval or oblong shape, it affords plenty space for the operation of Washing, and, at the same time, it does not occupy any superiiuous room.
, What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
l. A wash-basin made in oblong form and having at one end a lian ged raised rim or sea-t, B, substantially as and for the purpose speciiied.
2. The cover I) of an oval or oblong washbasin, formed with the receptacle E, substantially as herein shown, and for the purpose set forth.
